So the way I'm playing this is a can zoom over a unit making 3 strikes with my lord then get out and potentially charge any unit in range including the one I've just struck. All in the same turn

Entirely correct. Sweep Attack is NOT a close combat attack in any way shape or form, it isnt shooting, so it isnt restricting what you can do.

Take a tachyon arrow and you can shoot a unit different to the one you sweep attacked as well.

... so long as you only move at combat speed(6"or less) you can fire the tachyon arrow ... and so long as you only move at cruising speed (12" or less) you can fire the barges weapon (at a different target then the lord)

Or you disembark and shoot the arrow, given you need to disembark to assault a unit anyway...

true you could move 12" sweep attack one unit, disembark, shoot another unit and charge them. Though I think it would be better to stay within the transport. YMMV

ALmost certainly, but lord + war scythe can happily take on the MSU nonsense you see currently. Especially if the sweep attack got lucky and took out the power weapon / fist...
