Basically I cut of the barrel and the ammo-clip, plus the bit at the other end. Are these guns acceptable? Is this a good way of doing shotguns and would you play these dudes in a WYSIWYG-game?

still look like las guns to me but if you wanted to put some kind of inidcator on them that they are shotguns thats fine. Pennies work well as markers if you ahve nothing else handy.

I would trim the mag housing all the way off that would make it look more convinshing.

I'd accept them as shotguns, they look different enough from lasguns to make it clear what they are.

BTW, the first guy looks badass!

A little part of me dies when it thinks of a puritan Inquisitor reading the Rites of Damnation to a heretic then throwing him off a ladder through a table.

thanks, he's the sarge. And fluffwise they aren't shotguns, but, well, sawed-off lasguns.

And I forgot to ask before:

I the sheme good? I could imagine an army of these dudes to look cool, how about you guys?

Probably work

That's exactly how I've done my shotguns:

I've never had anyone complain about them being shotguns, and I take them to tournaments, including Adepticon last year. Honestly, most people see so little variance between S3 shotguns and S3 lasguns that it's not a huge deal.

Yep. If you want to charge after shooting then i doubt anyone would be complaining.

Still looks too much like a standard lasgun. I used Chimera lasguns on lasgun parts for my shotguns:

I used the drum from the grenade launched and everything forward of the the clip on the lasgun to make my shotguns for my sergeants, turn out pretty good.

That sounds cool but enormously beefy for a Guardsman - I used GL drums on my sternguard bolters and even then they looked massive!
