Hi everyone, got a . My buddy and I are in the midst of a 2000 pt. matchup that we're doing over the course of a few weeks since we're both busy. I'm doing Dark Elves, and he's doing O&G. But, we came up to a bit of a rule standstill at the end of the night.

Our two questions are:

Fear Elves and Causes Fear. My Dark Elf Cold One Knights cause fear, no surprise there. But, if I'm in base to base with a unit of Goblins, do the Goblins have to roll for the Cause Fear AND Fear Elves or just one roll for fear? We're thinking it's just one roll for both, but, we don't remember for sure.

Then, for Night Goblin Fanatics. The unit they are in is out of the 8" range for the Fanatic Release. If I charge with my Dark Elves, and get into CC, can the Fanatics be released in the next turn? The way it's wrote in the army book is making us think it's more like a 'shooting attack' and can't be released in CC, but, it still only says that it has to be within 8". Thanks!

I don't have the codex with me, but the basics are as follows I believe:

First, in combat, the goblins have to make a leadership test or they are WS 1 for the remainder of the turn. This is done at the start of every assault phase. If they pass, they are their normal WS. It is only one leadership test. Elves that cause fear might cause terror to goblins, I'd have to read the codex again for that but even still it is only one roll.

Second, fear has nothing to do with fanatics. They are released IMMEDIATELY as soon as a enemy is 8" away. The results are resolved and fanatics, since they are never truely in combat do not fear elves. You do not wait a turn, it is not an elective thing.

Heres how it works: You charge a unit with fanatics. You move to 8" of the goblins. You resolve the fanatics movements. (2d6 in the players direction they choose). Resolve the hits to the unit (if there are any, 1d6 hits per fanatic). Move the unit into CC. Resolve the hits if you run over any fanatics (2d6 hits per fanatic if I believe correctly). These wounds do not count toward combat resolution as it happens before you are in combat.

So, whatever happens, the fanatics are released before I even get to b2b with the troop they are in? Even if it's on my turn?
