I've always liked the idea of combat squading devastator squads, and with you that would be 6 small heavy weapons squads, which is very annoying.
But it just gets very expensive very quickly, and you wont have the points for the good stuff in the vanilla marines codex like hammernators and Ironclads.
If you want to up your firepower but not be too crazy with the points, how about a master of the forge with a conversion beamer, and a thunderfire cannon? And those two combined will be less points than one of your 10 man dev squads with upgrades

You could definitely do it.. but like caranthir said.. too many points in one thing.. just like in life, too much of anything is bad... (well except for 40k)

Something like this:
HQ
MotF, Conversion beamer - 120
Troops
10 Marines, meltagun, missile launcher, combi-flamer(melta), Rhino - 220
10 Marines, meltagun, missile launcher, combi-flamer(melta), Rhino - 220
Heavy Support
10 Devastators, 3 missile launchers, 1 lascanon - 250 (if memory serves...)
10 Devastators, 3 missile launchers, 1 lascanon - 250
Thunderfire Canon - 100
That's 1160pts. Still plenty to work with. Eiher more firepower, some hammernators, or more mobility...
How about two laserbacks for the Dev squads, 5 man scout squad with telion and missile launcher - this leaves enough points for a suicide speeder with MM and HF + 5 extra points.
9 missiles, 4 lascanons (2 twin-linked), 2 meltaguns, 1 MM, 1 HF, and 5-13 small blasts to go around. Not bad.

That last one sounds like a pretty nasty list, it definitely packs a punch, and as long as you move that suicidal speeder at full speed until you get to your enemies, it's not so suicidal as you think with it's cover save...

That's the plan indeed! Though with my luck, 4+ cover save is nowhere near safe for anything! I must say assault heavy armies could be a problem though since I've got no counter assault units. Would Power Fists be worth it instead of the suicide speeder?

It comes right to 1500. You could save some points if you took ML's on the Sternguard and put the points into something else if you wanted. As is though you have 8 Lascannons, 2 Twin-Linked Lascannons, and 6 ML's. You might be better suited taking HB's on the Razorbacks and you could take a third one for some taking down infantry. Lets you take 3 more scoring units though than if you were to take all devastators since you've got Pedro along.

Only two vehicles with AV11 wont last long and then here goes your mobility. If you could squeeze two Rhinos for your tactical squads, I think it could be better - at least you'd have a better chance to keep some mobility through out the game if you reserve some units.
And though I really like Pedro, you loose Combat Tactics and the opportunity to get out of harms way (ouch, spelling?), wich is quite usefull for an army that wants to keep out of combat as much as possible.

A wolves list that a friend used had something like 1 speeder as was already mentioned, a pred, and then i believe he spammed devs and a unit or two of termies...and rapped my guard XD
Don't know how the points would work though...i'll have a look at my marines book later ^^

And do you see many armies with a lot of av 14 stuff at 1500? If they are a maniac then maybe
Yeah if there is more than one land raider it could be in trouble, but everything else your opponent would have would be dead

Granted, lots of AV14 at 1500pts is very rare. But AV13 is not (Blood Angels, other marines).
I know SW lists that spam LF with missiles are highly rated, but remember that those come along with GH squads with meltaguns and a transport too. Caranthir: In the list you proposed, the only scoring units are below average for marines (and that's not good, unfortunately for us SM players) without mobility or any real killing power.
I don't want to sound harsh or anything, I just think that list is only good on paper because it relies too much on one thing - the amount of missiles.
