You're trolling right?
This is from a purely personal pov but was wondering does anyone feel the same.
In the last 12 months we've had DE (Nov 10), GKs (April 11), Sisters (Aug 11) and Necrons (Nov 11) each of which genuinely interests me in some way or another, be in model, fluff or play style wise.
However, financially and time-wise its been and is impossible to collect say 1500 of each army in that period.
Obviously time is highly subjective but I feel its been quite a busy release schedule. I would love to collect a small force of each to provide new tactics, threats and ideas to my games but it aint gonna happen.
I acknowledge fully many people wont have an interest in all 4 and would concentrate on their favourite(s) but I love having several different armies to play with/against (currently 4 with one being worked on).
Anyone else feel the same?
Am I just being a spolied brat?

You've got it abit wrong.
First of all, SoB got a minor rules update, and still use the same generally broken codex and overwhelmingly expensive models.
GK also had a faster than normal release due to reusing many models from the Space Marine codex.
Normally it's a release of about two per year if you look at the history. 2010 saw 3 updates, 2011, saw 2, 2009 had 2, 2008 had 3, 2006 and 7 had 2.
Occasionally 3 are released in one, most of the time its two.
This year was two, no way in hell was it three. Automatically Appended Next Post: Let's not forget that there are still plenty of broken or just plain old codex' still needing updating.
Tyranid, generally people say their update was quite bad. Shoe horning them into one sort of role and forcing them to use what is essentially the most expensive model in the game, when you don't even have a model for it (the Tervigon, which is a monsterous creature with no model, which requires it's own set of Termagaunts).
Tau are outdated and desperatly need a new codex, as does SoB
Chaos is seen to be in bad shape at the moment too, the fluff and rules being subpar at best save for a few choice units.
BT and DA both need updates.
Many would say that Eldar are fast becoming redundant as well due to the horrible creep.
To update those is going to take about 3 years, and there is a good chance there will be Space Marine update in there somewhere as well. Once those are out, good chance other codex will be redundant as well due to GW's policy of making older codex redundant by over powering newer ones slighty (enough to hurt the others)

I think that GW should be running an three codices a year up date cycle and a 5 year edition cycle, that way everything would get done each new cycle!
Personally it looks like Tau need an update most, probably followed by SOB - but they're expensive/not popular/odd rules so will take a bit more time.
That leaves Eldar/chaos next as they both have those minimalist codices and edge it ahead of DA and BT as the FAQ breathed some decent new life into them.
Nid players can and should complain, but they've a fairly recent codex even if it's rubbish

I can handle more than 2 releases per year, esp. as I am not interested in any Space Marines.

I think 3 armies and 1 big "other" release in the likes of an expansion or what have you works well.

I think the current release schedule is horrible and one of the reasons why I collect Warmachine.
As someone who collected Chaos, what didn’t sit well with me was how GW could move to a new edition and point costing model (which seems to change with each new codex) without releasing errata to rebalance the older codices. However the core issue is that the current release schedule is designed maximise model sales versus anything else. Power creep, as well as a large array of new models for other factions is some pretty good reasons to buy a second army (or a third). I dislike the current 3 army per year model, given that by the time it takes to update all factions, a new edition is ready for commencement, leaving the possibility for a faction to be 2 editions behind.
Personally I reckon the best compromise for a new release schedule would need to make a distinction between models and rules releases. Model wise, releases could be done as they are now (with 3 or so factions getting new models each year). Rulewise, all factions would get an updated basic ruleset with a new edition (contained in the rulebook ala PP). Codices would be designed to expand further upon the basic list (in terms of fluff as well as contain rules for new models) and the released alongside the model releases (ala PP army books). In order for this idea to work however, the basic lists would need to be designed and costed using the same point cost model and design constraints as the codices (no underpowered nonsense). The point cost model and design constraints would need to remain the same for all rulesets throughout the edition.

Fantesy is thriving in this area, its had a little revival with many people picking up fantesy in the last year.
I think 8th edition really helped.
and somehow, I think Storm of Magic has actually taken root. Small tenatious roots, but they are there regardless. I see it get mentioned fairly frequently in the army list section.

I admit I have not been playing this game long, but that White Dwarf codex came off as not only a back-handed slap, but also a ultimatum for the Sisters to get back in the kitchen and make some pie. I have a good friend that still (tries) to play his Sisters, and for all his collecting and painting, that was what he got. Disappointing.
I, for one, think that GW has a pretty good business model. New products and ideas monthly to keep people interested. They won't have something for everyone each month, but they try to spread the love around. I have heard some games do it faster. They issue a new edition of the rules and have every version of their codex (or whatever they call their army books) updated within the year. From a gamer's point of view, that would be better. No armies get left behind with outdated rules.
That being said, I prefer for them to do big releases like the Necrons, where they not only have a new codex, but lots of new models to collect. If they updated all of the codices in a few months, I think they wouldn't be as varied, as well made or as interesting. And you know how bad some of them have been when they do lavish attention on them. They wouldn't be able to release new plastic or finecast models for the releases either. They'd be doing a few random models a month so it might take years for the basic units of a new codex to purchasable.
I agree with the original poster that it's sad that there's not enough time and/or money to collect everything all at once. I got into this game for Necrons and I don't have my first 30 Slugga Boyz for my beginning Ork army painted yet. Can't justify a new army when my last one's not painted or fully put together yet. Guess I should quit my job, drop out of grad school, divorce my wife and give up my children.
Well, I could just give up sleep entirely instead...
