Hi everyone,

A unit of NG netters are in combat with an enmy unit, both facing the other. Enemy unit gets charged in another facing (i.e. flank or rear) then in CC, the netters successfully net the enemy unit to make them -1S.
Does the strength penalty apply to the enemy members attacking the 2nd unit OR is it only the ones fighting the netters

What's your opinions ?

thanks
Ford

A unit of netters can affect a single unit per combat.

That unit's -1S is a general modifier, not specific to the unit that caused it - otherwise the roll of a 1 would not be so bad.

@kirsanth - you've misunderstood my point, it's not the netters that have been flanked, but the enemy unit they are fighting - I know & accept that 1 unit of netters can only net 1 enemy unit per round of combat.

If the enemy are for example, 5 ranks deep, is the back rank as equally netted as the front rank, therefore also at -1S - them gobbos would be carrying long nets.

I suspect the answer is yes, as the game mechanics do not allow for any other result, but would like to see what everyone else believes

I am 99% sure its the target unit that has its strength reduced by 1. So if the target unit is successfully netted, and flanked on both sides and rear charged, it does not matter which side they fight on, they are still at -1 strength.

It may seem silly to think the nets are that long, but I am sure people could come up with plenty of fluff reasons as to why the nets might have an effect on the whole unit.

The combat phase is a dynamic phase, only to be presented by static models. In combat, the combatants rush through eachother hack and slashing around. Imagine the goblin netters standing amidst of combat, throwing their nets on the enemy, so the nets will hit everyone in the unit (or at least they disrupt the enemies' fighting a little while they are trying to pull the nets of their comrades).

I think it is very imaginable that goblin netters who throw their nets on a unit which is already in combat will net the whole unit =D

This is correct. The Netters rule says the unit, not the models in base contact. So even if the unit only has one model in B2B contact, the entire unit is affected regardless of where/what they are fighting.

I suggest you don't believe anything posted by thedarkavenger unless confirmed by other regular posters here at Dakka. He has shown he is incapable of basic English comprehension.
