Would this be considered an acceptable proxy? I plan to put the model on the big oval base you would get from a Trygon.

You mean this?

I'd find some way to remove the 2x Scything on the BH to make it match the Tyrannofex, but other than that it should be fine.

They're actually deceptively large, probably too big for a Tyrannofex. You could try, but they're a bit too big for me.

not too big at all. Mine BARELY fit on a large blast template sized base (which is the same size as two crappy CD's glued together, sandwich mode) The thing is supposed to be massive, its 250 pts, plus the artwork, blurry as it is, suggests large size.

The whole post re my Nid army is here: http://tabletoptacticians.blogspot.com/2010/08/spawn-more-overlords.html

Cant link the pic from work...

They're 6 wound models, it's safe to assume they could be Trygon sized. Also, that's probably the first time a FW has looked larger on a tabletop than in one of their photos!

Still the hyrodule is the right size to be gestating guants. Too big for a Trygon base yes but at the same time there are dudes at my FLGS who made some tyrannofexes and tervigons (since they ARE about the same size...) out of a bunch of carnifexes and they were waaaay bigger than the flying bases on his opponent's valks

My Tyrannofex is a converted Chapter House Tervigon conversion with Forge World claws. I started with a second hand Carnifex, stuck some of the Chapter House bits on and did some more work on top.

It fits nicely on a Trygon oval base and looks a proper thug.

A six wound MC with three different weapons including a big cannon ought to be quite beefy.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

So I'm probably going to take crap for this, but what if you took the hierdoule model, cut the gun off the pyrovore, and put that on the underside of the hierdoule? It is a pretty big gun, and I think it would be a appropriately sized.

The Scythed Hierodule has a big gun on its back - that could be used also. I mentioned the Barbed Hierodule because it has two guns and the rupture cannon is a two shot weapon

Yeah, I think that would make for an excellent stand in for a tyrannofex.

This here. Not only is it a 6 wound model, but it's the only model to come standard with a 2+ save. I'd assume GW's model, if they ever did one, would be very big as well. A converted Carnifex really isn't big enough.

I had the same idea.
An oval base is almost exactly the same length as the base the heirodule comes with. It's just wide enough to fit the model. So I think the heirodule makes a perfect tyrannofex proxy.

It's half painted and a bit ugly at the moment, but you can see my one in this picture I took of my necrons a few days ago.

Scythed variant also works because it has a giant cannon on its back.

since its count as, which ever you fancy
