Which codex has the best cover, in your opinion? (This can extend into discontinued Codices as well)

Me, I think I'd have to go with the 3rd Ed Necrons cover. I'm a sucker for simple "bright primary/secondary colour contrasted with dark tones", and it looks really menacing.

Having a big necron push recently I am fond of the brand new book cover. However from a hobby standpoint the vanilla Space Marine cover screams 40k.

I like the new necrons cover it keeps the menacing monocrhome whilst showing that necrons are back and more dangerous than before......

Wow, that's much cooler than the 3rd or 5th ed covers.

And I always liked the 4th Ed Space Marines cover, a lot more than the new one.

Actually yeah, I would have to say this. If a single Codex cover could convert me to start that army, it would be the BT dex cover.

the BA one is rubbish. Have you seen the central marine's horrible boss eyed out of proportion face? I loathe that codex, its some really crap art.

Of the current ones: Eldar and Orks for the tie (I play both so can't pick favourites).

I generally liked the codex covers from late 3rd through 4th ed. Especially Chaos 3.5 and Daemon Hunters.

Not a big fan of the 80s-metal-album-art-inspired covers up to 2nd/3rd ed. nor the pastels of 5th ed.

I love love love the 4th edition Imperial Guard codex cover:

It sells the idea that these guys are rugged, trained soldiers who fight tooth and nail. Also, the sergeant with the pistol looks kind of like Michael Biehn from Aliens.

Agreed with Brother SRM, it was a very cool cover!

Also, I find the current Eldar cover funny - I looked at it and went "SKITTLES!"
