Can a player mix units from different versions of the official codices? For example, I am building a Space Wolves army. Can I use 4th edition Wolf Priests with my 5th edition Grey Hunters? Is that legit or do I need to stick to one edition of the codex, or the other?

Thanks.

You need to stick with a single codex.

Stick with one codex and one codex only.

Sounds reasonable.

So, for all you Space Wolf fanatics out there, which codex is best? 4th or 5th?

Thanks.

Most gaming groups and virtually all tournaments will insist that you use the most current codex only.

While there is no "official" list of valid codexes, almost everyone assumes a new codex makes the old one invalid.

Don't expect to be able to play the outdated codex except in the most friendly of games.

Not to mention there is no 4th edition Space Wolf codex...there was a 3rd edition one, which isn't complete...you have to refer back to the old 3rd edition Space Marine codex for it to be complete.

And to answer your other question, the current Space Wolf codex is, much, much more powerful than the previous one, so you'd kind of be crazy not to want to use it!
