So, I am fairly new to Warhammer Fantasy. This army list is intended for casual play and I wanted to know if there was any possible tweaks to it that would make it function more effectively.

My idea is to have my Ghoulkin Vampire go along with the Ghouls. The general will sit behind the unit of Skeleton Warriors reinforcing their ranks with the necromancer, also using the helm of commandment on them. The Dire Wolves are there to be a screening unit for my Ghouls and Skeletons, I might replace one squad of wolves for a batswarm so that they can keep up with the Ghoul's march move. The Spirit Hosts are their to tie down enemy ranged fire, aswell as protect the Ghouls and Skeletons from Flanking attacks. The Cairne Wraiths are going to hunt down warmachines and/or protect flanks.

A question I have is, should I field my Skeleton Warriors and Ghouls in a Horde formation or keep them in a standard formation?

As always - Is your general surviveable enough? He does not have any protective gear other than the 4+ armour save... And you don't have a safety bunker for him? I sense a risk of getting shot by ranged weaponry.
Always think about if your vampire is survivable enough first when playing VC - A dead general is often enough to make you lose the game.

I'd drop spears from skeletons. I've tried them, and they were never worth the loss of a parry save. I'd run them 5 wide, they aren't offensive enough to be worth going horde with.

Ghouls are too few to go horde imo. I'd make them 6 or 7 wide.
