I usually use simple green on plastic. Think this is in the wrong forum though. Maybe try this question in the painting and modelling forum. This area is for finished models.

yeah wrong forum.
it will not harm the plastic, but it will not be 100% effective. it worked with the red army painter spray for me. typically i prefer greased lightning.

it's working for me on GW paint. Like more than just a little. five minutes in the 90% stuff and it stripped it down to primer and the primer was starting to come off, which is why i was worried about it damaging the plastic like the acetone I was using before did horribly.

I've used Isopropyl alcohol on both metal and plastic models. Even left the plastic ones in for a few days, it doesn't damage the plastic, or even soften it like thinners or acetone will.
If you want another good cleaner, better then Simple Green, use LA's Totally Awesome, can be found at Dollar Stores. Works on both plastic and metal, and only a buck for a bottle of it. Here is the link

Hope this helps

I have an unhealthy love for isopropyl alcohol. I seem to end up using it for so much round the house!

I've found that a final dunk in alcohol breaks down any residue left behind when I strip with a heavy duty degreaser like super clean or purple power.

oh failcast? I don't know but I do know that either way it's a win, cause it will either strip the paint off completely, leaving the model unscathed, accomplishing the task, or it will gelatinize the fai, er finecast solving the problem at the root.

Does it work even though the models are varnished? I need to know this before I buy buttloads of alcohol.
