My local group has come up with a simple house rule: models in base contact with a window or a low barrier on a ruin may draw line of sight from the windowsill itself. Only one model can fire in this way through a window, but any number of models can fire over a low barrier (such as at the top of that ruin in the picture example) provided they are in base contact with it.


In the rulebook, there is something similar. Page 22, bottom bullet, Firing over a barrier.

I'd say the window in this case is a piece of terrain they can see over.
