I got the idea of seeing just how much of our lives we waste on video games by listing the three games with the most hours you have as played on steam.
I keep my games pretty short as Ive got an SSD and when things have been ignored for a few weeks I delete them.. but anyways, mine is.
Space Marine - 67 hours
X COM Apocalypse - 55 hours
Skyrim - 45 hours (Already?!)
So what's yours chums?! 
Oh and if you play wow.. just for a laugh.. /played - 220 days.

Killing Floor (42 hours)
Neverwinter Nights 2 (40 hours)
I mostly play non steam games, and I usually don't stick with one game too long. I'm actually kinda amazed I got this kind of playtime out of these games.

Mate I had never played a Civ game before but it was on a weekend special about 3 month ago so I bought Civ 5 and cracked about 30 hours, completed it twice then deleted it.
Great game though, super addictive, but once youve took over the world a couple times it gets old.

For some reason my times have reset several times but I must be on around 260 hours on new vegas and 50 ish hours on dungeons of dredmor and killing floor.

I'm not really sure if that 557 is actually playing time as the stats show that I have played 410hours 42 mins and 29 seconds. I'm guessing that number you see on library page is actually means time I have had the game started. Those 140+ hours are propably time I'm wasted on lobbys.
So everybody your actual playing time might be somewhat lower.
I haven't played ld4 for some time now mainly because I've been playing bf3

The amount of time played is simply the amount of time the game has been running on your pc, I have 40 hours on terraria from turning it on and not actually using it.

TF2: 819 hours
Dawn of War II: 312.2 hours (combined with its expansions)
Champions Online: 209.1 hours
These hours are not even correct, they're understating it because Steam is buggy about this kind of thing and I began playing TF2 before they tracked hours played.
I turn my games off when I'm not playing them.

I'd have more were it not for the fact it was a day late, I wasn't able to play it for half of Monday through Thursday last week, and didn't play it at all on the Wednesday. Life has also gotten in the way a bit, as have ragequits, but meh, they're normal in gaming, whole days lost through not having it and illness are what i'd call 'extreme circumstances'.
