Hi! Just wondering, can I use a Forge World character in my amry. For example, I really want to use Lord Asterion Moloc in my pre-heresy Night Lords army, which uses the BA codex. Is that possible?
Thanks,
Sqallum

Fact of the Day: Emperor's Children are believed to be selling strange substances to children.
Thought for the day: Fear the Emperor or at least fear his Inquisition.
Lonely hearts column: Tall, thin metallic gentlemen with deep deep green eyes (in curvy hollow sockets) seeks well-oiled stainless steel female, must be soulless.

All about what your local club/ playing group allows
In our little club, we allow either 1 FW or 1 Apoc unit in any army.
As we play only 1500 points for most battles, it really prevents either from being too unbalanced

Don't see why not... just remember that it's a FW model so likely won't work in tournys and you'd need to clear it with your opponent before the fight.

As with anything outside of the main rules and codices, Forgeworld rules require that both players agree to their use.

"Lord Asterion Moloc is an HQ choice for a Codex Space Marines army" So you cannot take him in a Blood Angels army. Personally, I have no problem with people using FW units or list but you need to follow their restrictions. rigeld2 wrote:Don't see why not...
Lobukia, rigeld2, Ghaz - OP wasn't asking for opinions on using FW stuff - he had a question about a specific unit. Did any of you think to look at Moloc's rules?

Fluff/model is most important for me. As long as your opponent agrees, i see no problem with it.

FW stuff was not made with the balance of the game in mind, as a general rule FW stuff is not allowed in any normal tournament that I have seen. In a tournament I would never allow FW rules to be used by my opponent(the models can used to represent something in the codex though). Even in a pick up game I would be hesitant to let my opponent use a FW model.

Bag - if the TO has explicitly allowed FW rules, then you WILL allow FW rules to be used, or you dont take part in the tournament.
FW stuff is unblalanced in that 99.99% of FW items are overcosted and / or underpowered. There are about 3 items left that are broken, even the lucius is slightly less sily now.

Except I have never been to a Tournament where FW stuff is allowed and I've been to my fair share.

Bag - the point was that your statement is incorrect; in a tournament it is not up to YOU to decide what you will and wont play. Well. it is - in that you can choose to concede if you dont want to play someone.
