Can a Wolf Guard that is acting as a pack leader take Mark of the Wulfen?

The only restriction is that "One Wolf Guard may take..." But it doesn't specifically state whether that is one Wolf Guard in a WG unit, or that the one WG acting as a pack leader may take.

Just wondering if there is any clarification out there.

I honestly don't see why you would think they couldn't.

At the time that you create the list, you apply the options in the unit entry.

You assign them to packs before the game. This has no effect on your army list creation.

So basically, one of the WG from one of the WG units can have the MotW. In other words, if I want 2 WG to have MotW, I would need to have two Wolf Guard units in play.

That makes sense, because I was thinking of WG with MotW more as an individual model joining another unit. It is an important distinction because you can't have two WG with MotW, even if both are pack leaders, without have two WG units--furthermore, that also means that if I have a single unit of WG, I cannot have one WG with MotW as a pack leader and another within the WG unit.

Lastly, if I have a WG unit with 3 WGs, and at the start of the game I move two of the WGs to other units as pack leaders, does that mean I can have a legal WG unit of 1 unit?

Thanks.

In response to your 1st question; insaniaks spot on.

To your latest, yes you can certainly have a unit of 1 Wolf Guard. Careful for kill point games though!

If you're doing it to have multiple WG to scatter throughout other units, they aren't worth KP so the only limit is the FoC.

That only applies if the entire WG pack is split up. If there's even one Wolf Guard left who's not a pack leader, he gives the enemy a KP upon his death.

yes you can have that wolf guard have mark of the wulfen and tehn set them to a unit such as grey hunters, i personally use them for the power fist (more attacks then grey hunters and 20 points instead of 25= 2 point difference when you factor in wolf guard is 18 instead of 15). But, yes you can do this, for example i sometimes like to put Arjack rockfisft in with a 10man group of greyhunters and place them in a land raider redeemer.

Right. But the question was about taking single model wolf guard units and assigning them. They are not worth an extra KP in that situation.

Yes, but the following question was if the rest of the unit is split off from the pack, can there be a Wolf Guard unit of one Wolf Guard.
