If so, do you have to have the FW model to use the rules? Specifically i am asking if you can use a Dreadnought Drop Pod, and if you need the FW model to use it. It doesn't say (or I didn't see it) in the TT rules handout on the Adepticon site.

Thanks.

I would hope that if they are allowed they would require people to make or buy the actual model. The Lucias Drop pod is about 50% larger than a standard one.

Imperial Gaurd 18,000 Orks 16,000 Marines 21,900
Chaos Marines 7,800 Eldar 4,500 Dark Eldar 3,200
Tau 3,700 Tyranids 7,500 Sisters Of Battle 2,500
Daemons 4,000
100% Painted

Yeah I agree, but I don't know. I can't find the info anywhere, either.

Reecius,

Here is the current model policy:

http://www.adepticon.org/12rules/2012modelpolicy.pdf

and some discussion from the previous year ..

http://dev.adepticon.org/2010/11/missing-rules-model-policy.html

Also keep in mind that we will be using the most current version of the Lucius rules as found in Imperial Armor Apocalypse 2nd Edition which has some significant changes.

Thanks for the info!

That doesn't really give a crystal clear answer, to be honest. I am assuming yes, from the tone of the article, but it doesn't make it clear.

Also, is it written anywhere that the TT will be allowing one team member to use a FW model as in the past? I didn't see that either.

Reecius,

No worries. We choose to not treat FW models any different than we treat any other model at AdeptiCon. We also strive to have one over all model policy for all events and systems at AdeptiCon.

#6 - Scratch built models and conversions can be used for units but must adhere to the following guidelines:

o Models may NOT contain significant elements of pre-assembled and/or pre-painted models or toys.

o Models MUST be consistent with the look and feel of the game system they belong in. Scratch built models should aesthetically evoke the production-quality models they are intended to represent.

o Models MUST adhere to all the above restrictions (See #1-#5.)

So you can use a scratch build or use a conversion to represent a FW model but the long and short of it is .. it better look as good or better than the FW model itself.

The draft rules for this years TT will be posted shortly. Matt has been working with the TT rules team and they are under final review.

IA units will be allowed in the Warhammer 40K Team Tournament like always. There will be some changes in regards to what and how many you can field in the 2012 event. Most likely the 2012 Warhammer 40K Team Tournament, 2012 Allowable IA Units document and the Warhammer 40K Championships rules will be posted tomorrow.

In regards to the Lucius Pattern Drop Pod - you are free to scratch-build one, but it must be the same size (footprint, height, width, etc.) as the Forge World model.

You cannot use a standard Space Marine Drop Pod and claim it as a Lucius Pattern.

As Hank mentioned, make sure to check out IA Apoc 2. Big changes for this model.

Ok, will do. Thanks a ton for the info, guys.

I am not using the Drop Pod personally, but a friend is.

Can't wait for the big event!

Who would that friend be?

And also, does anybody know if these are the actual updated rules for the Lucius?

Whitedragon,

That is definitely not the current rules for the Lucius. That is the pdf update to the original Imperial Armor 2 book that brought the book in line with the current state of 40K a number of years ago. I don't think that PDF has been revisited for awhile.

They have recently published an update to Imperial Armor Apocalypse that contains the update.

As with previous years we will publish a IA matrix of units and references to the current location for rules.

Good to know, I'll track that IA Update down then.

Yeah, I went through this earlier when considering using it. I think BA isn't even allowed to take it now (which makes sense!) and it costs a bit more.

You do know that the Lucius got hit by the nerf bat, quite a bit in IAA 2nd edition, right?

Its 65 points now, takes up a FA slot all on its own and a Dread wanting to assault the same turn it lands has to take a Dangerous Terrain test...and it can't be taken by Blood Angels.

Still can be nasty, but definitely a lot of negatives now thrown in there too.

yakface's 40K rule #1: Although the rules allow you to use modeling to your advantage, how badly do you need to win your toy soldier games?
yakface's 40K rule #2: Friends don't let friends start a MEQ army.
yakface's 40K rule #3: Codex does not ALWAYS trump the rulebook, so please don't say that!

Blood angels can however, still take it for Apocaylpse; just wanted to point out for anyone who might not know that. Has no bearings for the TT though and it's a good thing since Furiosos coming out of these are ridiculous.

So what you're saying is..........if you happen to be thinking of running a team full of Blood Angels, a Lucius pod may not be the answer....
