Ok, so I want a game that is basically Necromunda. 12ish per side, experience and a good campaign set up. We basically have 3 new players and 2 old players. I have a lot of options for pushing them towards the best game.
Now there are basically 3 rule sets. the Community RB, the Living RB and the Original RB. Which is best?
Should I recommend something like Mordeim instead?
Are there other games that I should consider? I basically want the BEST campaign I can run here. I would prefer a good community and support for the game (which... GW doesn't have).

Mordheim is awful for campaign/league style games, as Possessed are very OP very quickly.

I've only played Original RB, but I loved it!

I was thinking of using the ORB for necromunda, there is an issue of the players having it, but I'm sure there's a PDF out there. I have the originals somewhere, but who knows where that could be. It's been years since I played any of this stuff.

Anyone know if Coreheim fixes those campaign issues?

I'd go with living or Community, but whichever edition you use, there's going to be some gangs that are overpowered and some that are underpowerd.

If you want a great Campaign, you need a GM. Someone who is going to create (or just find and run) great scenarios and tweak the campagin just enough to keep power gamers (assuming you have any) from running away with things.

I am very familiar with GMing RPGs and such, my concern is that I don't want to miss out on playing as well. I also don't want the other players to think I have some sort of advantage if I GM and play a game. Do you think this will be an issue? If so, I can add a second GM to balance each other off.

You could refrain from having a proper gang, but still play by conrolling various hive monsters, Arbites, and other "random encounters". Use these fights to bring the more powerful gangs down a peg or to give some easy XP to uderdogs.

This way you get to play, but you're not really competing, and you can use your games to balance the gangs.

Agreed. As a GM, the options for play are enormous.

Arbiter scenarios, Guilder raid scenarios (being the guilders), playing the hunted eldar scout, chaos champion, etc. You could even just have a gang you play now and then to add some randomeness to the campaign.

The problem is that I would want to play a gang proper. That's the appeal of Necromunda for me. Maybe my buddy will want to GM a campaign, or at least co-GM it. I would like to think my friends would trust me to be fair, problem is a lot of the players this time around won't be my friends. I'm going to be the only one with a lot of real experience at the table, with my friend in second (and everyone else so far having none).

That make sense. I completely understand wanting to play a gang. I guess your best bet -whichever rules you choose- would be to scour the internet to find out what the broken aspects of the ruleset are and try and fix them ahead of time.

This may result in outlawing certain gangs or tweaking the rules, so whatever you do, make sure it is announced well in advance before folks have a chance to put their warbands together. There's a good chance that if there's a WAAC gamer in the group, they are already scouring the internet to find the most broken gang they can.

One other suggestion would be to insist that all gangs at least start out WYSIWYG. Obviously you can't enforce it for everyone as gangs begin to advance, but starting out WYSIWYG will at least help to curb some of the excesses that can result from certain gang lists.

Yeah, points-match is the way to play 'heim imho.

Play the Enforcers (Guild or Arbitrator) as GM. Then you've got a gang to progress and the ability to be the will of "the man" as well.
