Iwas wondering, could I use death company in my pre heresy Night Lords amrmy, which uses the BA codex. How could I theme it? Would they be drugged ect to bring on their incredible nastiness?

Fact of the Day: Emperor's Children are believed to be selling strange substances to children.

Thought for the day: Fear the Emperor or at least fear his Inquisition.

Lonely hearts column: Tall, thin metallic gentlemen with deep deep green eyes (in curvy hollow sockets) seeks well-oiled stainless steel female, must be soulless.

Night Lords aren't raging lunatics with no control over their senses, at least, the vast majority aren't likely to be like that. You could run them as some sort of berzerker unit, but the actual standard Night Lords Astartes are going to be more like their loyalist cousins. If you want Night Lords, assault marines work quite well from what I've heard.

Night Lords Khorne Berserkers.

The original Berzerkers came from the World Eaters Legion led by Angron, who turned to worshipping the Blood God once they renounced the Emperor; however, Marines from other Legions and more recently turned Renegade chapters, also took to Khorne worship, becoming Khornate Berserkers.

Emphasis mine.

No, there's no official fluff cover for Death Company-style units in a pre-heresy Night Lords army. Hell, there's no justification for Death Company in a pre-heresy Blood Angels army, for that matter.

Nothing stopping you from inventing it, though.

Actually, in the Blood Reaver book from Black Library, they do mention a ritual tradition of the Night Lotrds: Those who have fallen out of favor or disobeyed the 'honor' of the Legion must paint their gauntlets red, and their lives are from then on at the whim of their Claw leader. They are essentially suicide troops.

The main character actually revives the rule in order to bring a particularly unruly brother in line, as a step in his quest to restore his warband to a truer shape. I think it could work well as a fluffy version of the Death Company: a squad of Night Lords with crimson gauntlets roaring to try and regain their standing in the Legion.

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.

In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos.

Ups. Missed the "pre-heresy".

That would be tougher.
