Hey there so we are about to start having a play around with some Battle Missions and have come accrss something we arent sure about so hopefully you guys can help.

Some of the missions specifically say that one or both players cannot hold any unit in reserve.

How does this work if you have something such as Ork Stormboyz with Zagstrukk or Codex:Space Marine drop pods which state they have to enter via deep strike? Do they just deploy regardless of their specific rule? Does the codex rule override the battle mission rule? Can they just not deploy at all? As we dont know what mission we will be playing before we write lists we will not know if this is going to be a problem or not.

Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Drop pods must always deepstrike as noted on pg 69.

The other bit that I found is a reference to units in TDA on pg 102. "They may always start the game in reserve and arrive using deep strike rules, even if it is not part of the mission being played."

I'm not sure about Orks, I've never played them and don't have the dex. Check out their entry or the armoury and see if they have something stated like the terminators or pod.

If Zagstrukk must start in reserves, then he starts in reserves, even if reserves are not used. As the ork codex is still 4th ed, it won't have the same wording as say Lictors which state they always start in reserves, even if the mission does not allow reserves.

On a related note, can a unit that is allowed to DS even when DS rules are not in use (i.e. Warp Spiders with Surprise Assault) be allowed to DS if reserves are not used?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.
