I have a question as it recently came up in a 2v2 match when I deepstriked my Tau Crisis suits.
Can Crisis suits move in the assault phase the turn the arrive on deep strike? The Jetpacks say they always get a move, while the deepstrike says you cannot assault. The group I was with agreed for the game to allow the move on arrival since I was not launching an assault but just moving, but I want to a definitive answer for future games as we were unsure.
Thanks for any help you can give

The only prohibition from DS is you cannot move in the movement phase, and cannot launch an assault. If you have a special movement in the assault phase you are allowed to make it.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

See I found another thread on a few forums saying yes they can and not they cannot. I dont have my codex on me but apparently only crisis suits and stealthsuits may not be able to move in the assault phase even if not launching an assault, but i do not remember reading this anywhere.

If they have jet packs (which is a special type of wargear) they can move during the assault phase without assaulting. I don't have a tau codex so I don't know if they are regular jump infantry, or if they are jump infantry with jet packs (or tau equivalent)

On page 27 in the Tau Codex there is a box at the bottom which states "(though he may not make the additional 6" move in the turn he arrives)." in reference to all XV8 suits being granted the Deep Strike special rule. AFAIK this hasn't been FAQ-ed so the assault move is disallowed on the turn you deep strike.
