Hey guys kinda, newb and this is my first post (yay!) but this is cereal, super, super cereal. This is my first army list it is 1,500 points cause this is what my friends and I play. Please be gentle.
HQ:
Mephiston-250 pts.

Troops:
Assault Squad 1: 224 pts.
+3 marines
+Infernus Pistol
+plasma pistol (sergeant)
+power axe (sergeant
No jump packs- Rhino + 25 added (storm bolter)

Assault Squad 2: 194 pts.
+3 marines
+1 plasma gun
+1 plasma/ lightning claw (sergeant)
+Melta bombs
Transport- Land-raider (extra armor): 265 pts.

Tactical Squad: 210 pts.
+5 marines
+Plasma gun
+Plasma pistol/power fist (sergeant)
+missile launcher
Transport-Drop pod: 65 pts.

Fast Attack:
Land-speeder: 90 pts.
+Assault cannon

Predator: 180 pts.

tactical marines are never a good choice for Blood Angels. Just use assault marines either squads of 10 with jump packs or squads of 5 in razorbacks. I am also not a fan of Land Speeders I find them a waste of points and very flimsy. They can be good if you get first turn and they have multi-meltas to pop land raiders and other tanks on turn 1as you can move 12 and still fire one of the 24" multimeltas to pop a tank.

If you get a hit on the deepstrike near a landraider or rear armour of a vindicator or predator then they can be good but this is risky and normally only survive for one turn however you play them.

Welcome, happy wargaming.

Tactical squad with melta and combimelta(and missile launcher) in a drop pod is not too bad. As you land and melt something. The issue is you'll want a priest to land with this group to give it FNP. Also tactical squads are not that far behind assault marines in cc for what it is worth.

You'll need more meltas and less plasma pistols.

Given your models I would swap the drop pod and rhino around. The assault squad can land and try inferno a tank, also they could carry a priest.
Tactical squads work better in rhinos than assault squads in general.

Try to go for assault squads maybe with magnets on jump packs. Then have them with meltas, maybe a few flamers, powerfists or weapons and only bolt pistols. Also get some priests.

Not that far behind? For a unit with the same model count, you're looking at assault marines having twice the number of attacks (200%) when they get charged, or 150% more attacks if they are charging. In mathammer, that's a signifigant cc edge.

I am a sucker for DoA lists and meltaguns. Personally I run 3 MM attack bikes as a mobile dev squad. Also If you want to see more bang for your buck in the tac squad, either make them assault or swap the points for my favorite, two 5 man, missile toting, scout sniper infil squads <3

actually alot can be done to make this better. and sorry if i come off as hostile

first off troops...generally if your going with assault marines there are really only 2 ways to go about it. 1) keep your jump packs or 2) remove the jump packs and only use 5 man squads with razorbacks to go with them. so looking at your list id go with jump packs. also your gonna want to go with full 10 man squads with 2x melta guns and a power fist for the sgt. try not to waste points on inferno pistols. yes they give you an extra attack in cc but the range sucks and your paying an extra 5 pts just for the extra attack. and if you decide to go the way of jump packers your gonna want to have a priest or 2 with jump packs as well to give your units feel no pain and furious charge

also mephiston greatly benefits from your assault marines having jump packs mainly due to having so much stuff on board that he wont be a high priority. while with tanks in your list he will be moved up to a high priority unit. this is mainly because of the few attacks he has compared to a 10 man assault marine unit when used right. and if you have points left over try a regular libby obviously with a jump pack and go with shield of sanguinius and unleash rage. this will give you a cover save out in the open and dish out more attacks in close combat

tactical marines really have no place in any blood angel list as other units can do what they can better. im mainly talking about death co. yes they are more expensive but you get what you paid for. also assault marines are generally a better choice.

looking over your list. having 5 vehicles one being a land raider...you can expect them to be picked off fairly easily. your predator is a decent choice. your speeder could do better with a multi melta and heavy flamer for 20 points cheaper also they work best in pairs or more. single drop pods are generally for suicide units and pods work better in high amounts. also expect your land raider to get picked off by melta weapons

That is nowhere near the full story.
10 man assault squad has two special weapons and a sergeant.

Thus you need to compare
9 attacks and 3 powerweapon attacks to 16 attacks and 3 powerweapon attacks
then on the charge
18 attacks and 4 powerweapon attacks to 25 attacks and 4 powerweapon attacks

Seven extra attacks at st4/5 isn't that powerful especially as the tactical squad has two more pistol shots and has the option to sit back and shoot the enemy.
