I'm currently getting resin bases for my Night Lords army that I will be starting soon. Their bases have bone remains of humans and a slight lip to them allowing for some "Realistic Water" effects to be poured in. I've looked everywhere that I know of to find tutorials on how to make realistic pools of blood for the Night Lords to stand in. Can anyone tell me how to achieve the effect or give me a link to a tutorial on how to do this? I was guessing that if I got "Realist Water" and mixed some blood red into it and painting the base a slightly darker red that it might achieve what I'm looking for. I can provide a link to the picture of the effect I'm trying to achieve (I don't know if I'm allowed to do so or not here). Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Definitely give Unreal Details' "Magic Water" a try. Here are the details of the product to go with: http://www.unrealdetails.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=33&Itemid=13

edit: Scroll down to "tinting & coloring"

I'll add a +1 for "magic water".

You can tint it by adding paint/inks.

Thanks I'll definitly look into it. Here's an example of what I'm trying to do with it, if this helps.

lol go ahead You should check out their other bases too. I was going to try to find some metal grating like that of what would be on a space ship and have them look like they are invading a ship or station of some sort (which this particular company has too) but then I saw the bone ones and decided that my Night Lords would look right at home standing on top of them with a pool of blood underneath, hence this thread.

I'm even considering it for my Necron heroes. I don't know enough about their fluff behind their weaponry to know whether or not Gauss makes people bleed or simply fries them, but a Necron on a mound of skeletons in a pool of blood would be awesome... they'd suit Flayed Ones for sure, though!

I made this using a mixture of magic water , blood red (citadel paint) make a few trial bases on card board or something to get it right before you ruin your paint jobs.
