To start, I'd like to voice my opinion and say that the previous UI for the gallery was much better and it was easier to navigate with.

Now, on to my suggestion: I've noticed that the gallery's Warhammer Fantasy category is completely saturated with 40k images tagged with fantasy. I propose that Dakka implement a feature that would work like this:
When someone goes to the gallery, they are presented with a picture that is tagged with both 40k and Fantasy (and that isn't tagged with Chaos/daemons) and below the picture, the page should ask something like "Is this a fantasy or 40k model?", with relative options below. Users should be forced to correct one image every time they enter the gallery. I think it's more important to clean up images than to get votes for them. In addtion, if someone tries to tag an image with just "warhammer", they should be forced to choose between fantasy and 40k. Lastly, I suppose paid members shouldn't be required to fix the images.

We can already delete incorrect tags and can even add in new ones.

Yeah, I'm aware, but I don't think that's enough. I went browsing through fantasy tagged photos today, and literally a third of the photos on each page (looked through about 6 or 7) were 40k models. I corrected the ones on those pages, but I'm sure there are still tons of improperly tagged 40k models.

Yeah, the tags are in pretty poor condition. When I go on a voting spree, I spend 90% of my time correcting tags rather than voting.

Lego has indicated before that he's working on a system to update tags and make them more automated, but I don't know when that will be finished.

Alright, well, good to know that something is in the works

Yes tags are getting a complete interface overhaul, but it is a lot of work and such a substantial change (the entire DB structure of the gallery is being altered) that it will be a while before it can be released.

Question: Does this mean that there's still value in currently correcting tags, or should we save all our energies for after this system gets implemented?

All existing tags will be imported and are more valuable than ever. The new system will just make it easier to add and clean upnadditional tags.
