I put the Lash Whip and Whip Coils together since they both read almost identical in the description of their rules.

Would Mindshackle Scarabs that are affecting a model with Lash Whip/Whip Coils get any benefit from it?

They both state "While an enemy model is in base contact...", so are the other members of the affected models unit counted as enemies when it is affected by Mindshackle Scarabs?

Mindshackle, stats that before strikes are blow, so Mindshackle will go first. Only the models that B2B with that are affected by Mindshackle, would only take the test.

That doesn't answer either of my questions.

I think the answer is no to your question, the scarabs only prevent the model form attacking and make him hit his own unit. i don't believe the scarabs change him to a friendly model and then lash whip everyone around him. It's a gray area though.

Mindshackle would result in the target launching D3 attacks against the unit he's in which are resolved at the victim's strength, and BENEFIT FROM ANY ABILITIES AND PENALTIES from his close combat weapons. The controller of mindshackle scarabs chooses which, if there is a choice. Pg 81 Necron Codex. Take that as you may

At no point does the Necron player stop counting as an enemy model, so you are still affected by coils / whips

Agreed, and that's the main thing.

Secondary: Are Whip Coils ever called a weapon? Because they don't behave like one, so unless they are called a weapon they wouldn't even be something that could be manipulated by a Mindshackle scarab.

Exactly whip coils/lash wips are items not weapons. the proof being that you can have a special weapon and still have the lash whip effect without having to choose.

Lash Whips are explicitly not a weapon as Tyranids only have Claws and Teeth as a CCW. Do Whip Coils have the same statement?

rigeld2 i thought that as well, BUT then I checked the tyranid book and though they dont behave like ccw they are listed under 'close combat weapons'

The heading of a section doesn't matter, although they should've just been called biomorphs.

Tyranids never gain a bonus attack for having multiple CCW.
Tyranids can usethe effect of every biomorph.
Page 33 in the codex says that they only have Claws and Teeth as CCW.

Tyranid "weapons", like the Lash Whip, are not CCW in the normal rulebook sense.

RAW tyranids don't have CCW. 'Claws and Teeth' count as CCW. So RAW midshackle scarabs hits on tyranids don't have any special abilities (such as rending, or ignore armor saves (unless MC))

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
