The background bit
I've just back into the hobby and got myself a copy of AoBR as well as some extra Marines. I'm thinking about expanding my Orks as well, then in the future, increase each army a little at a time.
I currently don't have the Ork Codex (currently bidding on one on eBay, cheaper books = more money to buy models ) so I don't know what rules apply to which weapons and such.
Basically what I want to know is...
1.With some of the extra bits, can I convert the AoBR Boys / Nobs with spare arms / weapons from the spure easily?
2.Is there any combinations that I should not make? Because of a rule / does not make sense regarding points that I don't know about yet due to not reading the codex yet.

if i remeber correctly the aobr set has specific way to build it basically as long as you put them together correctly there is no customization. as far as getting different arms ext. it should be as easy as gluing them to it.

Nasty Nob

Yeah, I've done it.
AoBR boyz have detachable gun-arms but the choppa-arm is one piece with the body. If you want to convert both arms, you need to cut off the choppa-arm, then file it flat so the new bit can glue on smoothly. If you want to stick nob arms onto AoBR boyz, you'll find the sizes might be a bit off, since nob bodies are bigger than others.

Cruentus - Mate, that was a great link, cheers for passing that on. I'll definitely give that a go on some of the dudes and then use my spare Boyz parts on the others.

Slightly OT but here's what I did for my Ork friend w/ a spare AoBR warboss:
He counts as Ghazghkull. The Orks are all surprisingly customizable, limited only by your time, skill & bitz box. The same can't be said for the marines of course. They are customizable, yes, but not near as much as easily.

Yes. You will definately be able to convert the AoBR orks. A knife, pen-vice, green stuff and super glue...
You got it!

This is slightly on and off of topic but I am currently taking an AOBR Nob and converting him into a Black Orc Warboss for fantasy. It really just needs some creativity and you can do lot. Like take some sprue bits and card stock and make some extra armor for them.
