Is it possible for the Ork Warboss to defeat the Dreadnaught in CC with the power klaw or is the Orks only chance the Defcoptas?
Secondly, if it is, does the boss stand a good chance?

Sorry if this is the wrong section, please move the post if it is.

It iss possible for the boss to kill the dreadnought in cc. However make sure he is not in base contact otherwise he could get singled out and id. Since the boss is i1 thx to the pk the dread will hit 1st so having boys take the hits is a good idea.

Now, the wb has 5 Attacks on the charge at s10 iirc with ws5. So you hit with with 3s and glance on 2s. Usually, even with. Ad dice rolls the dread will be incapacitated within 2 rounds of cc. The problem with killing vehicles as orks in cc is the possible explosion which with a 6+ saves isnt the best

Overall shooting the drread down is best but the wb can. Take it down just dont tank the dccw attack with ur nobs or the wb

wouldnt the IC have to be BtB to attack the dread to begin with? As he is his own unit in CC.

Yes it can be done, its just risky.

Da boss has to be in b2b with the dread to attack it, but yes, he can reliably take it down if he manages to survive its attacks.

My bad, seems I have been doing assaults with IC all wrong, jsut reread the rules and yeah, he has to be in b2b.

OP: its a 50/50 chance, if you have cybork body, you might survive the DCCW attack if you get hit, but if one get's trhough, your warboss will be dead.

Cool, thanks for letting me know guys. Really just wanted to know if it was a viable tactic if the Defcoptas get shot down straight away. Sounds like its best to leave it as a last ditch attempt. Thanks again.

+1 to the leave it as a last ditch attempt.

Your Warboss will have a slim chance of surviving if the AoBR Dread still has its Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon intact.

The AOBR sequence of events (for ork players)

1/. Play with the stuff in the box only, using the equipment listed on the models.

2/. Realise how badly the orks got shafted on both points values and effective units...

3/. Roundly abuse GW for a while.

4/. Realise that you got PLASTIC deffkoptas in the box (check out the old metal ones in the codex for LOLs ) and feel somewhat better.

5/. Realise that the orks in AOBR can be converted, with effort, into all sorts of other ork units.

6/. Feel pretty good about AOBR, though still miffed at the SM favouritism.

7/. Buy more orks!!

AOBR is a great set. I bought 4 or 5 of them.

The Points/effectiveness disparity still narks me though.. :(
