I like this list a lot. Stripped down, no silly upgrades, and a ton of firepower. Your list is good and you should feel good.
Downsides to this list are the CCS in the only chimera, zipping around the board w/ plasmas. Going to be a prime target. Might as well just strip the CCS to a LasCannon and the OotF and camp them near the HWS. I dunno. I do like this style of list though.
1) Looks like your throwing away Orders, because will your CCS ever really be close enough to the HWSs to give Orders to them? Orders for a gunline can be a huge difference with those HWSs and their BS 3.
2) I think you also need a Lord Commissar to keep your HWSs around from counter-fire. The Aura of Discipline for Orders, Morale, and pinning checks is really important for alot of HWSs, at least those that are really important to you (like LC HWSs).
3) Your also lacking a serious amount of AV 12+ firepower with only one LCHWS. The Colossusi can help with that, as two shots, even with the scatter dice have chance to hit. But I think you would be wasting the ignore cover aspect of them to fire on vehicles when they should be firing on troops.
4) No ACs in your power blob? Should have them in there, specially if they are a bubble wrap for your artillery. Gives them something to do at range. Gunline man!
5) Switch out the load out on your PCS. I understand you want to use them as a hoard deterant, but they are not mobile enough and have to short of a range to not be shot up before they do anything. In a pure gunline, I would honestly recommend 4x Sniper Rifles or 2x Sniper Rifles and a AC. Yeah, they kinda suck with the Sniper Rifles, but in mass they might do some damage and you could get lucky with a pinning roll to give your arty a extra round of fire on them.
6) Penal squad as a speed bump? Eh... maybe. I have found they work better in a assault role if your going to use them. Vets with a AC, pw and shotguns, or something else for 10-15pts (your krak nades) Might be a better choice just because they might actually have a ranged attack (and the penal might not) and hit with it.
7) Two batteries of Hydras? Interesting, but a Manticore for 10pts more or 2 AC HWSs that can split up their fire and actually put more shots out might be a better choice. This I am iffy on because I could see it working out, but those heavy slots could also be artillery too.

I am dropping your AC firepower for more lascannons. This gives you 9 LC shots on up to 5 targets. The blob gives you some AC shots to pour into a hoard as you should have enough LC shots for transport popping. The Vets are something I have been toying with and look super expensive but those points /are/ doing something for them. Each unit can hold down a flank sitting in cover for a 3+ save and can then use the cover save for 'Gets Hot!' as well. The Sentries negates the extra attack on a charge and most units are made Init 1 due to the terrain, thus the power sword. This also gives them some versitility as 'For Cadia!' becomes an option. The melta bombs are to give them some anti-armor defence. But with BS 4 and all the Plasma and a LC on top of it, with the possibility or Creed making them twin linked vs vehicles or MCs, they should be pretty effective. You can also Outflank one using 'Tactical Genius'. The Lord feels alittle over kill for only 2 HWSs, but if terrain permitting, you might be able to place him 6" of a Vet squad to give them leadership 10 as well as the HWSs. You can also use 'Tactical Genius' to give a single unit Scouts (just use it for the Stealth). If your local GMs approve, you could give it to the whole Platoon as due to the reserve rules the Platoon counts as a single unit, and Scouts would allow them to Outflank. Talk it over and see what they say. Everything but the Colossi should be within 24" of Creed and in cover.
This is only a idea... I am not even sure on this list versus the one you came up with, as I have more Anti -Tank but you have more Anti-Hoard. Maybe you can use it for some ideas at least. I have been kicking around a Gunline fluff list based off of the series 'The Pacific' to actually use Bastonne in a list. Would have Mortors, HBs (as .30 cals), and ACs (as .50 cals), but I am having a hard time putting LCs in the list to make sense. Eh, I am rambling... but that is where I came up with the Vets as a alternitive to a 2nd blob. They are expensive because I feel like I would be doing them a dis-service to their BS 4 weapon-wise. If you drop the Sentries and PW on each Vet squad, you /could/ get another HWS as you would have 80pts to play with. Then with those last 5pts I would give the PCS melta bombs or get two bolt pistols.
Good luck!

Been playing 40k on and off since 89.
Armies...
Orks, Eldar, Lamentors, Pre-Heresy EC, CSM EC, and IG.
Thank you for the advice, i am seeing the lack of AT now, however, i did not intend to zoom around with the CCS in the Chimera, i was just using it as a bunker and to increase order range. Because your right; Orders are essential to a gunline list.
On the note of the Lord Commissar, I'm not sold on 80 points to give one HWS one number better save. I'd consider taking him, but i personally think it is a waste of points.
I would love to take Creed, TBH i simply forgot about him, i will definitely put him in the final list.
Out Flanking a whole Platoon would be interesting lol, but it does take away from the theme of this list.
Sniper rifles on the PCS is a good idea, I will give that a shot, especially because my Nid opponent runs a Ndzilla type list.
I don't see how the Colossi can help with AT (as you said about my OP) because they are only STR 6?
Use some field howitzers as Lascannons! They could work, just a thought.
Automatically Appended Next Post: After some consideration on your suggestions and concerns, this is what i came up with;
1500pts Guard Gunline
HQ:
CCS: Creed, OotF, Lascannon= 190
Elites:
Guardsman Marbo = 65
Troops:
Infantry Platoon:
PCS: 4 Snipers = 50
PIS: Melta, Melta Bombs, Power Weapon, Commissar, Power Weapon = 120
PIS: Melta, Melta Bombs, Power Weapon = 75
PIS: Melta, Melta Bombs, Power Weapon = 75
HWS: 3 Autocannons = 75
HWS: 3 Autocannons = 75
HWS: 3 Lascannons = 105
Veteran Squad: lascannon = 90
Heavy Support:
Ordninance Battery: 2 Colossus = 280
Hydra Battery: 2 Tanks = 150
Hydra Battery: 2 Tanks = 150
There aren't a whole lot of huge changes, mostly because I am trying to keep the list within the realms of reality (AKA stuff I already own). I put in a little more AT firepower, and made my PCSMC hunters. I also added Creed, because he's awesome. I stayed away from the Lord Commissar though, because again, i just cant see him being worth 80 points.
Thoughts?

Do you have more infantry to work with, already 'Ready'?
Or are those it?
At 1500, i'd forgo Creed, hell any of the special characters.
@ 2000 i start to add toys like him, but at 1500, i prefer more
killy goodness.
and i'd drop the sniper rifles for GL. and if you knew how much
i hated GL, you know how i really feel about IG snipers. let the little people
do it if you want snipers...
Edit:
Do you have any stormtroopers?
DSing them will help with the lack of mobility.

alarmingrick: Those are it unfortunately, ihowever i am looking at expanding in that area, in the near future I'm hoping to get a hold of 20 more guardsmen. So I'd love to hear what you would have me do with them.
I'm not sure about taking out Creed, he seems like a really good addition to this list because of his 4 orders per turn, which seems necessary in a Gunline for HWS and what not.
I was actually thinking of adding in a Ratling squad, just for a better chance at killing MCs.
I don't currently have any Storm Troopers. I do want them though.
Blk Tom: I had an idea the other day, for your LC Pacific issue. Not sure if you'd go for it or even care but here it is. I perfect weapon for a LC replacement would be those Anti-Tank Guns you see in WWII, The ones with the blast shield, wheels, and two long handles for moving it around. I thought it would match up nicely, just a thought.
I'd use GL instead of snipers in the PCS.(if you have the models Melta would be good to, or flamers even)
I'd make the Vet squads regular PIS. if you don't Mech them up(Chimera/Valk/Vendetta),
they die just as easily as regular troops. yet not as cheap. gives you enough points to do a second Platoon.
I'm showing my bias, but i'd switch the Colosus for Basilisk.
You'll find that alot of things will get within the 24" min range quickly.
A basilisk will give you a chance to fire direct should that happen.

I didn't realize that the Colossus couldn't shoot directly as well. I would have to find 20 pts to make the change though right?
I think I'm gonna stick with snipers for MC hunting.
Also, I think I'll stay with the Vets for their BS 4. Blk Tom is right there; they are expensive yes, but for good reason. Either way I want to try it out.
Any idea where to get the 20 pts to upgrade the Collossi to basilisks?

If you switch both the Colosus for Basilisks, you GAIN 30 pts.
The Basilisk is 15 pts cheaper.
Also, if you drop the Lascannons and Sentries (100 pts), plus the 30 you saved switching to Bassies, gives
you 2 chimera (110) and a 3rd plasmagun for the 2nd Vet squad. with 5 pts to spare....
And last thought. if you switched all Vets to Melta from plasma, you'd have enough pts for a
Scout Sentinel.....
1500 even.
gives you more of a gunline instead of a hybrid.
Gives you a Blob to advance/ react to assaults with and
a blob to wrap you're vehicles with.

I like the look of the last list, but I don't have that many models unfortunately. The first two are too hybrid for me, I'm trying to go 100% Gunline on this one. Once i can get some more guardsmen I will give the last one a try, I really like the look of it.
Thanks for the input!
