I was starting to consider my second 40k army for a while now, and I thought.... why the hell not ZOMBIES? I can use the models for our DnD campaign, too. I can use the Vampire Counts kit of zombie and ghouls and skellies... problem is I'm still undecided on what codex to best represent the undead. I also want it to be a competitive force because, hey, I want a fluffy AND a good army. Also, I don't want to do IG because it's been done already, so aside from that:

1) Orks. The "WAAAGH!" rule can be re-fluffed into "BRAIIIIINS" and they will represent the undead horde pretty darn well. My main problem is how to represent the vehicles. Modified corpse carts into battle wagons? Converted Ogres (or maybe giants) into undead kans? Undead flying things to koptas? How can I represent the ranged weapons, too (maybe mix in Empire bits for guns)? I was thinking of going Battle Wagon rush or Kanwall.

2) Tyranids. Another horde army. I will not have a trouble representing the vehicles... downside is that they're not much of a competitive army. And again, what models would I use to represent the MCs?

3) Any other contenders? TAU?

I like this one the best.

Corpse Carts for wagons sounds solid to me. Pick up a box of tomb kings archers, and use their bits intermixed with the vampire counts zombies. Then green stuff fleshy goodness over the skeletal bits. This should give you the opportunity to use a ton of the bits from both boxes, and the bows give you ranged weapons.

An obvious choice I forgot: NECRONS. Problem with Necrons is they are more elite undead-y and again, vehicles. Plus they got tons of hi-tech shooting that i don't know how to represent tabletop-wise.

If I'm going for Orks, can you give me models that can be converted into undead that can represent kans?

Tomb Kings bone giant, again adding green stuff fleshyness to make it a zombie, rather than a skeleton. If I think of anything better I'll post it, but that's a quick first pass for kans.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Chariots for deffkoptas (sp?) too.

I'd probably go for Nids, myself. If you're already willing to use undead ogryns, bone giants etc then you should be able to work out some analogues for everything else - zombie dogs, zombie elephants, etc.
