I figured this would be the best place to ask the question, so if I misplaced this, apologies.

My question comes from mainly my lack of Chaos Knowledge outside the Codex. I've just finished my army, and had the idea to make my own Chaos Space Marines Legion as well as a small Fandex for it as well (Same stats as in the CSM codex, but with my own model names and such.) But, the basis of what I want my army to be may or may not be supported in the universe of 40k, so I'd like clarification.

The Question: To what extent can an army of Chaos be? Are they limited to just man and Daemon? Or could the bound of what they can exist as be infinite within the power of their gods? For example, COULD a Chaos Legion be composed of an army of Armor acting without a physical host, but moving about because the god(s) of the legion fused in the soul of the armor's former host with it, and forced the soul to fight on past death? Sort of like a Dullahan (If my Mythological lore is accurate).

Before I write said fandex, I'd like to get my facts straight so I don't need to suffer the wrath of Lore :x

It's definitely possible for your army to be a bunch of "floating armor" I don't think the Chaos gods would re-animate a bunch of power armor with no one inside of it, but you could have a Chaos Sorcerer making them float and such.

Thousands Sons are already empty armor suits, with special rules.

That was more or less the idea, actually. A Chaos Sorcerer binding the souls of Fallen Imperial Space Marines (I think thats right >_> *Warhammer 40k Lore noob) into their Power Armor, then making them fight in the name of chaos. Essentially like Necromancy. I'm still working out my personal specifics, but the idea of it seemed fun and twisted, so how could I not TRY it.

As said they have a special rule or two, should be somewhere around in the chaos codex.

I knew about the Thousand Sons, but I didn't know they were Essentially Soulbound Armor from a failed spell :x. I just needed the confirmation of my... I guess fluff is the correct term, so my Fandex's lore is within 40k reason. Otherwise, my units will be based off of actual stats in the existing CSM rulebook. Just with my custom names and junk xD.
