Kabalite Conscript

Hi guys, looking for a few pointers or ideas in regards to scratch building a troope of Harlequins. I am not to fond of the current range as I find them very similar. So I am looking to sratch build them. In some ways I want to stay away from the current look and feel and give them an almost beauty and the beast feel although a few "traditional" looking ones would be nice.
Any suggestions on parts to use ?

I am creating a Dark Eldar army and have spare Wych parts to use. I have also bought a box of Daemonettes as I felt they would convert well.
I have created one Harlequin so far and it still needs some work.

Its a mash up of Daemonette / Kabalite warrior atm.

Any suggestions please let me know

Looking interesting!

Since you're going to be without the 'distinctive' modelled parts of Harlequins that make them stand out (the masks, Harelquin's Kisses etc) I think the painting will need to make them stand out from the rest of your DE's, interested if you've got a plan for that?

As for parts, I can think of a wrist-mounted shuri-pistol from the Dire Avenger sprue which might be convertible into a Kiss (http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/product_info.php/eldar-dire-avengers-exarch-shuriken-pistol-arm-p-997), and as they give you more than you need in the DA box if you know a Craftworld Eldar player they might have some spares.
Also, if you can grab one of the old guardian CC weapon sprues, that should supply you with the pistols (Fusion pistols etc.) as well as some swords. (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Warhammer-40K-Eldar-Guardian-arms-weapons-plastic-/350509497366?pt=UK_Toys_Wargames_RL&hash=item519bfe7c16#ht_1052wt_1139)

The links are just for examples, I'm not trying to promote them specifically :-P

Ah thanks for that ! I have a load of old space marine parts and thought the weapons to bulky, but I will search around for those Eldar parts. I have actually ordered some Dire Avengers and New Guardians simply to canibalise so will look at those before I give them to my students to go through.

I am unsure of my set colour scheme yet but have googled Harlequin costumes. I will probably have 1-2 "traditional" harlequins in that they will be multi colour checker board. What has grabbed me so far though is either the Red / Black / White "Harley Quinn" colour scheme or a more gothic black / white looking to make them look like Mimes

I really want them to stand out from my Kabalites / Wyches.

Currently using a metalic purple effect on my Kabalites and a Metalic Blue / Hard Purple on the Wyches.

I personally love the Harle' models, but hey. Right, the pose on that first one is good; but Harlequins need really dynamic poses I think, it's what sets the apart. I would bend that left leg back at the knee, almost as if she's leaning/jumping back as she cracks the whip.
To convey movement, make sure to keep any 'stray objects' e.g whips, bits of hanging cloth etc. facing the direction that they should be given the position, i.e if te model is running, then have the whip blowing backwards.
As for painting, red and black checks would be nice. Red would be a nice contrast to the blue that you have on the Kabalites, but having it alongside black as well would tie it in with the dark feel of the Dark Eldar.
Good luck,

Cheers

Thanks have taken this advice and crooked the leg + chain to look more dynamic.
I have a wych + Kabalite on the go at the moment which will give me time to really ensure I am 100% happy with the conversion

I like it, a very good 'creepy' harlequin to fit in with Dark Eldar rather than their colorful, Craftworld kin.

Its been some time coming as I have been working on a ton of other pojects, including a Shadow Seer conversion.
But here is my second scrath built "Harley Quinn" Dark Eldar Harliquin.
I want the whole troop to stand out from my others.
