This may seem like a totally nooblet of a question, but can you flamer your own men if them template lands on them? I always assumed you couldn't because you flamer's squad mates counted as invisible when shooting.

Page 29, right side, second paragraph under 'Template' tells you exactly what you need to know. Specifically the first sentence.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

You can't shoot your own units therefore you can't place any template over your units. Only way that you can achieve a friendly fire is that when a blast marker you placed on the enemy scatters and lands on your own.

As noted. The rules for template weapons in 5th state that you may never place the template in such a way that it covers any of your own models.
In 3rd and 4th you could do it, and in fact could be forced to do it, as the 3rd and 4th ed template rules required you to maximize hits on models in the targeted enemy unit even if that meant covering some of your own guys.
