Okay, so here's a question I want to put to Dakka about Anrakyr the Traveller's Mind in the Machine skill.

Here's the layout: T U A

where T= tank, U = unit, A= Anrakyr

Now, can Anrakyr use Mind in the Machine to take over the tank's targeting systems in order to shoot the unit, after which Anrakyr can assault the unit?

I ask, because Anrakyr is not actually shooting the tank. The wording for MitM simply states that he needs line of sight, and I don't believe that Mind in the Machine is considered a shooting attack, as it has no designation such as RF or Assault 1. So technically, wouldn't it be the tank's shooting that is considered Anrakyr's shooting attack, and not the MitM ability? If so, then I believe that Anrakyr should be able to assault the unit that he had shot at via the tank's gun.

It is not a shooting attack. The tank's shooting is the tank's shooting, not the Traveler's. The Traveler can assault whoever he wants.

The Traveler can even shoot his missile in the same turn.

AS above. Taking over another tank is NOT a shooting attack, therefore it does not require you to assault the unit you shot at.

Cool. That came up in a game yesterday, and that was the conclusion I came to, but I wanted to make sure I didn't do something underhanded there, as it was a game-changing moment.
