SO, I was wanting to start build a Dark Angles list as an alternative to Tyranids. I was thinking of running it vanilla. Any suggestion before I start buying?

Why not use they're own codex?

well I do want to use the DA codex, but I don't want to just put out 31 termies and call it an army. I want something more. Maybe some dreadknought and devastators and predators...

Honestly if you are doing just marines. The Vanilla codex would be better. I hate to say it but the DA codex does not do marines justice with over priced units and upgrades. You can run a lilst with out having 31 terminators and still have a good army. Here is what I run usealy for my DA build.

Belial: LC's
Sammeal: Speeder

Dread: Plasma Cannon
Dread: Plasma Cannon

DW Squad
-Banner
-Apoth
DW Squad
-CML
DW Squad
-CML
Bikes x6
-2x Plasmaguns
-Apoth

Speeder: MM, TML
Speeder: MM, TML

Vindicator: Dozer
Vindicator: Dozer

It does have terminators but I think it has a bit more to it as well. Here is my vanilla list with the C:SM.

HQ:
Space Marine Chapter Master in Power Armour (1#, 170 pts)
-Artificer Armour; Plasma Pistol; Power Weapon

Troops:
Tactical Squad (11#, 275 pts)
-Meltagun; Lascannon
Sergeant
-Plasma Pistol; Power Fist
Rhino; Extra Armor

Tactical Squad (11#, 275 pts)
-Meltagun; Lascannon
Sergeant
-Plasma Pistol; Power Fist
Rhino; Extra Armor

Tactical Squad (11#, 305 pts)
-Plasma gun; Plasma Cannon
Sergeant
-Plasma Pistol x1; Power Weapon x1
1 Razorback; Extra Armor; Lascannon and TL Plasmagun

Tactical Squad (11#, 305 pts)
-Plasma gun; Plasma Cannon
Sergeant
-Plasma Pistol x1; Power Weapon x1
1 Razorback; Extra Armor; Lascannon and TL Plasmagun

Scout Squad (10#, 170 pts)
-Sniper x9; Camo Cloaks
Sergeant
-Sniper; Camo Cloaks

Heavy Support:
Devastator Squad (5#, 190 pts)
-Plasma Cannon x4
Sergeant

Vindicator(1#, 130 pts)
-Extra Armor

Predator (1#, 180 pts)
-Extra Armor; Twin-Linked Lascannon; Lascannon Sponson

Totally 2 different style list, but both work pretty good. You can of course do what you want to do. I only give you these as ideas from both codex's.

Deathwing doesn't use so many termy models. You can always supplement the deathwing squads with tac. squads in lasbacks. Or has been suggested use ravenwing as troops.

If you dev. squads and dreads and preds, I think you'll want razorback spam. The missile combat squads sit with dev. squads and the dreads can keep up with the razorbacks. The razorbacks can be used instead of the pred you wanted.
