I know that the title poses a highly subjective query, but I'd like the opinion of people who either sub, or pick it up off the LFGS rack regularly.
Do you think it's worth the price? As a yearling in the hobby, I'm considering picking up a sub.

Unless you're solely in it for 40K, this may be better suited for the General Discussions forum?
Personally however I wouldn't recommend it. I'd occasionally get an issue that interests you, but I'd otherwise consider WD over-priced and lacking real content.
Again, I'd really just recommend you get it when that issue is of interest of you, rather than a subscription.

"It is the great irony of the Legiones Astartes: engineered to kill to achieve a victory of peace that they can then be no part of."

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Death-Dealing Ultramarine Devastator

A year ago I would have said no but I'm seeing it steadily improve. The painting tutorials are getting better, the battle reports, while still not the best, are getting better, and they are including a new mission for 40k in almost every issue now. The only issue recently that I really felt like it was a straight advertisement for GW was the Dreadfleet issue but even then it had a Sisters of Battle mission in there.

Hey that dreadfleet issue told me how to paint all those ships. It even taught me how to paint gold onto something! I say they are getting worth it lately.

WD is one of the few subscription based modeling mags that is actually done well. Anything else you might find looks like it was printed on an HP inkjet from 1994.
Not to mention, it's in color. 90% of modeling mags aren't.
