Just wanted to run this by you and see what you guys think. i wanted an excuse to use an alternative model for a c´tan and decided to whip up some fluff for this unit. The model is not quite done yet, but soon ill upload some pics aswell, but basically its more like a mech then a star god.
here goes:
During the last stages of the war in Heaven the Old Ones became desperate. They started developing even more agressive measures to defend their crumbling empire, cheif among them where dangerously powerfull Psykic races and warp fuelled weapons that tore at reality to devastating effect.
However the Old ones in their wisdom realised that without their guidance their subjects would be lost and therefore took measures to defend themselves from assassination attempts and other hostilities. They made the Vassals.
Forged from superior materials and brought into sentience through the sheer willpower of the Old ones themselves, these towering metal guardians would be their last defense. Only a few hundred where completed but every measure was taken to make them as Relentless as the cosmic forces used to shape their souls. Each was bound to their masters and indeed a part of them, as part of the Old Ones souls was fused with their protectors. This ensured complete loyalty and control, and that was essential in a role so vital.
However as the final stage of the war finally came, something unexpected happened. The vassals outlived their masters. Built to be indestructable, the great protectors reaped a terrible toll on the legions of necrons as they breached the inner chambers of the old ones, but even their abbilities where insufficient to protect their creators forever.
When the fighting ebbed and the Old Ones where no more, many of the vassals still stood, but where completely motionless.
Many where destroyed by the awesome powers of the c´tan but a some where captured as the vain c´tan saw potential in these creatures that so closely resembled their own slaves.
Internally the vassals where devastated. Many went completely mad from the lack of their masters voices and never moved again. Some however soon came to resent their masters failure, for how could they bring them into being and then perish, leaving them with the emptiness of an existence without purpose.
Soon they where won over by the words of the Necron masters who now held their destiny in their hands, and found new masters in these beings who where closer to kin then anything else they had encountered. As the eons passed the Vassals forgot their creators teachings but their hate for them grew.
How could their former masters bring so many races into being and yet deny them a purpose beyond failure and shame?
Now they have become a mere extention of the Pharons powers, ancient protectors turned hunters of the unknowing spawn of the old ones. The necrons never unlocked the mysteries of their creation but learned to repair them, and after the they had been modified to suit their now alliance they where hard to distinguish from the other ghastly constructs the necrontyr call brethren.
