If, say, a Fire warrior squad takes a shas'ui with both a markerlight and target lock, then can he fire that before the rest of the unit and allow the unit to benefit from it? Similar situations are with pathfinders and markerlight drones. I didn't think that I can do this, but I wanted to be sure.

All shooting from a unit is simultaneous. And I believe the rules for a marker light specifically disallow a unit from using its own Marker Light. I do know there was an exception to this and I can't remember if it was Marker Drones or the Skyray that had this.

As always I could be talking out my arse.

zeshin is right in that the shooting is simultaneous, however, the Target Lock allows the 'Ui to shoot, say a Dreadnought, while his fellow FWs, at the same time, shoot their pulse rifles at some SM scouts. Resolve the Scout hits and wounds and the ML marker is put on the dread (if successful).

After the scouts' wounds and saves are resolved, then the tau player is free to use the ML on the dread for a Seeker, cover-removal, etc.

Pathfinders. Let's say you've included a Target Lock on the 'Ui there (it's silly, don't, but you could!). The 'Ui MLs a wounded Daemon Prince and the other PFs put MLs on a group of KhorneBerzerkers. No wounds are dealt so the PFs' shooting is over and now the tau player is free to have a Seeker nail the DP. Or have some FireKnives hose down the KorneBs.

There are Networked Markerlights, which are slightly different to normal Markerlights. The Networked ones are fired before the rest of the unit instead of simultaneously, and the firing unit may benefit from the marker it places. I know the Skyray has Networked Markerlights, but I forget who else can get them.

Specifically it says that a unit can't benefit from it's own Markerlights unless they are Networked, so no.

The target lock does let the Shas'ui designate a separate target for the markerlight though.

Networked Markerlights can be found on Marker Drones, Skyrays and Sniper Drone Teams
