Subject: Inquisitors?

Mindless Servitor

Hi, im relatively new to the table top game, and I have a some questions about inquisitors being enlisted in armies.
I have heard (but never confirmed for myself) that inquisitors are flexible and can be in any Imperium of Man army. Be it the Sisters of Battle or the Grey Knights. Is this true?
If it is true, can I have an inquisitor in an IG army?
If yes, can an inquisitor count as an officer in a regiment?
Does the inquisitor still get all his henchmen?
If yes, do those count as the officer/inquisitor's regimental advisers?

Old codex rule.
Now you can only take Inquisitors in Sisters of Battle and Grey Knight armies, using their respective codex entries.

Inquisitors and their henchman were part of the daemon hunters (GK) and witch hunters (SoB). I don't know if they still are. There was also a rule that allowed IG players to field certain units from DH/WH. However those rules are no longer in effect with the new codices.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Inquisitors CAN be taken in the current GK army lists (Elites choices), or certain ones as HQ.
Don't know about Sisters (and don't particularly care).
Yes, back in 2nd edition, ANY imperial army could take them (and for a short period in 3rd edition).
Nowadays, ONLY the GK and probably the SoB can take them.

Just use the inquisitor models for your sarges/commanders. I don't think I've ever encountered a player that would dispute that.

I agree, use inquisitor models as your commanders and paint you guard in an inquisitorial colour scheme - it makes sense, since the inquisition can requisition whatever they like from the Imperium.

So long as the model has the same wargear as what you have listed for it, an Inquisitor would make a good looking IG commander. You could even include a number of less fancy looking Inquisitors (to represent Acolytes) instead of the standard Commissars if you wanted.

I see, so its just the inquisitor model, but he doesnt have his inquisitor special rules, but the IG special rules?

Sisters cannot take Inquisitors anymore to correct some of the above posts. They are a GK only unit now.
But yeah, I've had some ideas of using Inquisitors in a regular guard army to represent the commanders myself, so feel free to do it!

Sisters get Priests now as their leaders. While Inquisitors are rightly held as being inquisition armies only (grey knights).
As far as models are concerned of course you can use an inquisitor model to represent a harbitten crusading priest for a SOB army.
