Lots of cool stuff going on right now, so let's get right to it.
To start with, you can save 20% off my PDF paper model downloads at DriveThruRPG, RPGNow and Wargame Vault until the end of the year. Visit my manufacturer's page and check out the selection:
http://www.wargamevault.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=2985&filters=0_0_0_0
My latest release is the Frontier House, designed to work in lots of historical settings from medieval times through the American West. Features a wide selection of skins that you can mix-and-match to create your own unique looks.
And lastly, I've started to release PSD Photoshop packs for some of my models. This gives you direct access to the Photoshop files I used to create the PDF packs. There's no easier way to kitbash your own models, alter textures and create new stuff. (For Mac users without Photoshop, these files can be accessed with Pixelmator.)
Cheers!
-Dave

Maybe I can cover all the bases here...
I use only two programs to create my models: Photoshop and InDesign, with no add-ons. All of the 3D design work takes place in my head. I start each project by laying out the cut-and-fold lines in Photoshop, in 2D. In fact, everything you see in my advertisements is 2D artwork (except for the occasional photo).
To read my model PDFs and use their optional layers, all you need is Adobe Acrobat Reader (which is free). You can also use Adobe Acrobat Pro (which is far from free). Some other PDF readers will work, but I don't recommend any.
To read my PSD Photoshop file packs, you'll need some version of Photoshop. You can use an old version such as PS7 or the latest Adobe Creative Suite version. I'm told that Mac has a free program called Pixelmator that can open PSD files (but I don't know how much functionality that program offers).

Pixelmator isn't free, but then again at $30 to Photoshop's current price ($300? More?) i guess it could be considered nearly free. It's a full image editor with a lot of the same features you'd expect from Photoshop and is a bit cleaner and more responsive... My main issue is it's a bit unstable in my experience. I use it now sometimes because it's faster than waiting for Photoshop to load.

If your looking for a light weight, fast to load, easy to use, fully functional raster editor that is also free Paint .NET is the one I go for. Though with a name like that it is more just a really advanced alternative to GIMP and Paint tbh, though i've never found it lacking the features I need anyway.
Anyway back on topic, I'm finding the buildings your putting out very appealing but next to GWs they are looking a bit flat. Is there no way you could get some texture in there, or even blog suggestions about how people might go about texturing and painting them up? After all the image does look so good you would want to touch it.
I'm also a little taken back by the fact that the most recent pic you show seems to have the base showing what appears to be tiles, i'm guessing this isn't intended.

I'm a Photoshop guy, not a miniature sculptor. I wouldn't know where to start with that, but I love to see folks taking my designs further and any time I see someone blogging about it, I try to pass it along.
For example:
http://montysarmypainter.blogspot.com/2011/08/dave-graffam-card-buildings.html
I aim to create models that are easy and affordable to print and assemble. Once in a while, I might design a more complex model, or something with more detail, but that's not what I specialize in and it's not what I'm known for. There's a lot of other stuff out there that's as complex as you want to get.
ceorron wrote:I'm also a little taken back by the fact that the most recent pic you show seems to have the base showing what appears to be tiles, i'm guessing this isn't intended.
That ground piece is included with the model. It's been mounted on foamcore (which I recommend) but you could print it on heavy card instead. It's a 9" x 7" piece with an optional 1 inch grid.
Also, a detailed instructions guide is now available for the Mermaid Tavern:

A whole 'snow edition' set would be great. With a white table cloth, some snow covered trees, you could have an amazing yuletide battle (perhaps against a red uniformed ogre king with a flowing white beard)...

This set is now available in your choice of PDF or PSD versions, just $1.95 each.
Direct Link:
http://davesgames.net/catalog-crane-house-rakes-corner.htm
A crane house like this is useful in any harbor, and might be the property of a merchant at their private pier or warehouse. It might be owned by a town or individual offering its services to the public, charging a small fee for every hoist. Such a structure would also be vital in an exchange market where bulk goods are being traded, where large freight needs to be moved from one wagon to another all the time. In Rake's Corner, the old crane house has played a part of many shady deals and the trafficking of contraband.
The operation is simple: Because the crane stays in one place, carts or boats are moved into place beneath it. Heavy cargo in a net or harness is lifted off the back of carts or boats, and workers on the ground use hooks and poles to maneuver the cargo onto the dock. There, it can be broken down into smaller units and distributed, lifted onto the next boat or cart in line or stacked for later.
EASY TO BUILD: This paper model kit is easy to assemble, requiring just cardstock paper sheets to print on (110 lb. or 199gsm recommended), scissors, hobby knife, paper glue, aluminum ruler and cutting mat. Optionally, you can use a piece of foamcore for the base.
15MM-30MM SCALE: This model comes prepared in two scales: 15mm and 28mm/30mm. It can also be printed at other gaming scales by adjusting the print size percentage on your printer. Tips and advice for altering the scale are included with this kit.
READY TO PRINT: This specially-priced model features single-layered PDFs that are ready to print right way.
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS: You'll need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 or later in order to use these files.
DIMENSIONS: The Crane House's footprint is 2.7" x 2.2" and it stands 8.6" high at the chimney. An optional ground piece is provided for extra stability, and it measures 3" x 6".

Now available for just $1.95 in your choice of PDF or PSD files at Ecardmodels, Paizo Publishing's webstore, DriveThruStuff, RPGNow and Wargame Vault.
This paper terrain kit is easy to assemble, requiring just cardstock paper sheets to print on (110 lb. or 199gsm recommended), hobby knife, paper glue, metal ruler and cutting mat. Optional textured sidings are provided for mounting on foamcore.
These tiles are designed at the popular 28mm-30mm gaming scale (1 inch equals 5 feet), and can be shrunk down to 15mm, 20mm or 25mm scales by simply adjusting the print size percentage on your printer. Tips and advice for altering the scale are included with this kit.
This set features 3 multi-layered PDFs that offer a variety of customization options. The texture layers can be mixed and combined in various ways, giving you control over the appearance of your tiles before you print them. This means you can use each tile PDF over and over, choosing a different look every time.
You get all of these texture options:
• Variety of symbols and markings
• Panelization options
• Lots of weathering options
• Accent colors (gray, gunmetal, brown, red, white)
• Mid colors (gray, gunmetal, earth, white)

• And more!
You'll need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 or later in order to use these files.
This kit features 3 types of spaceport ground tiles:
• Landing Pad: Quarter-circle that can be printed four times to make a full circle
• Storage Bay: Featuring a large cargo door in the center
• General Purpose: With lots of panels and a workers' accessway

New map in the works. It'll be 48"x70", which I hope is a fine compromise between the preferred 4x8 foot table size (48x72 inches) and can also be printed off easily on A4/letter size sections if necessary.
Here's the starting point for the Rake's Corner Map. Each square = 2 inches. There's a canal (blue), and two types of roadways (gray): 3" alleys, and 4" streets with 1" sidewalks on either side (6" together).
Rake's Corner is something like the Five Points. The locals are vicious to each other, so you can just imagine how they treat strangers. The town watch is afraid to patrol there. The lawlessness breeds vice, graft and murder.
Anyhoo-- I'd like to add an open space somewhere, a market square. Where would you want to see it? Just tell me northwest, southeast, something like that. I'll figure out what you mean.
And should I dare to add some angled streets? How important is it that the textures conform to the 1" grid?
