Hey guys (girls)
Well my question to you all is. what if you like the rules for a sertain character and you copy that straight off and just make up your own char with your own fluff.
would you be ok with this?
Example: Im starting an eldar army and i really like eldrad but i want to make up my own craftworld and do not want to play ultwe.
´Me and my friends play really fluff based games so i dont really want to use eldrad as eldrad since he does not belong to my craftworld.
How would you guys think if i just made up my own farseer, going to make a heavely converted model for him, and then used eldrads rules?
Do you guys think this is feasible?
Are there any SC that this does not work with and some that it does?
Regards Ogard

You could say he was assisting your personal craftworld in a fight, or ge the model and paint it to your craftworld. He is quite distinctive, however, and a botched conversion of him would cause confusion.

People do it all the time. It's called "counts as". As long as you aren't changing any rules and the model is distinctive and equipped like Eldrad, there's nothing in the rules that says this is illegal.

What I am doing with Immotek, I will right him up as being my character but in army lists and gameplay I use the word Immotek.

Its fine, people do it all the time. Just don't expect to people to ever actually refer to your character by your name. As soon as you say- "oh he counts as Eldrad" your opponent will say "ok, so he IS Eldrad" This is because your opponent probably knows the special rules for Eldrad, and its easier for him to keep track of what the character does in his head by referring to him as Eldrad. And of course since you are referring to Eldrad's rules in game and your opponent is referring to him as Eldrad... YOU will probably start referring to him as Eldrad, and perhaps even sheepishly adding an occasional I mean *insert custom characters name* Anyway, I am a crotchety man who doesn't really like special characters, but I understand their importance in the newer codexes. I just wouldn't ever really call a counts as special charachter fluffy. Eldrad is Eldrad and Vulcan is Vulcan no matter how you dress them up. In terms of fluff it seems fishy that your chapter master has the same stats and wargear as Vulcan, and the same applies to a craftworld's farseer. Of course I would never point this out in a game, as I am not a fluff nut, BUT I wouldn't consider it making your list more fluffy. If that makes sense?

In fact the rules explicitly say that this is perfectly legal.
@Ogard not only is this feasible its actually tournament legal and allowed under almost every set of rules I've ever seen.
