Tyranid Prime with 2x Boneswords and Rending Claws (as this is what the model is armed with so theres no changing that unfortunetly...)

3x3 units of Hive Guard

2 Units of Terma Gants

2 Tervigons with Glands, Sacs, Cluster Spines and Catalyst

2 Trygon Primes with adrenal Glands

2 Carnifexes with Glands and Frag Spines

1880

I have 120 points left...
Not sure what to get really, but i was thinking of 2 units of 10 Gargoyles to provide a nice cheap Cover screen for my Fexes & or Tervigons?

I can't get any Warriors as There bassically what my Hive Guard look Like so that makes it awkward...

first of all regardless of how competative it is, I love T6 spam lists! now on to suggestions.

First drop the rending claws on your Prime. they are pointless since boneswords are power weapons. if you cant remove them, just cut up a Gun arm and stick the gun in his Hands.

as for the 120 free points, Get a second tyranid prime armed the Same (2x Boneswords & Devourer 90 points model) and buy a Twin link Devourers for each of your Carnifexes 30 pts for both.

Run the two Tyranid primes each attached to a Trygon or tervigon. because of thier infantry status, they give the TMC a cover save if the Tyranid prime is in cover.

I cover the rules on that in detail on on of my reply posts to my 2500pts list i put up. Link below.

I Only have One Tyranid Prime Model (its a classic Tyranid Warrior Model) so i can't really get another that looks the same as him :(

However the idea behind your suggestions are good!
Could i perhaps not give my carnifexes guns and give both the primes Regen and Deathspitters?

Then if they go with either of the Trygons or Tervigons, i'll get a cover save and if i do suffer a wound on the Prime from say a lascannon, i can risk it as theres a 1in6 chance i get that wound back !

Am i correct in assuming as well that i would get 3d6 Difficult Terrain move if my Prime goes with a MC as they both have MTC?

Do you have any Basic Tyranid Warriors? If so they're an easy conversion, just add some extra armour plates and spikes, and bam Tyranid prime. The boneswords are the tricky part but Scytihng talons from a larger crature can be whittled down to shape the swords. Since you have Trygons you have spare Mawloc arms lying around, they're great for that.

Right now i use a spare Tyrant bonesword arm and a Warrior arm with an extra Headpeice Shell from my Trygon pack like a shield to represent a Bonesword and lash whip combo on my prime, i'll post a pic when I get home.

Units move as fast as the slowest model in them. So the combo does slow them down a bit, im pretty sure Tyranid prime does not have move through cover like a MC.

Regen and spitters could be okay, with the same points Carnifex Devourers are just so much better with 6x twin linked Str 6 ap- shots per carnifex they're amazing
twin linked BS3 is a 75% hit chance where as BS 4 is 66% hit chance.

Agreed, double devs on the fexes is a sound choice.

The remainder could go towards a gargoyle screen of 10 to tie up and enemy unit in combat before the trygons arrive, as you've mentioned.

Not legal. You cannot attach to a unit that is only ever one model (unless it's another IC). Primes with Fexes works because you can have a brood of 1-3.

The first part of this post was right, but the second was from a confused cough medicine induced haze. I've removed the incorrect info.

Agree on the dakka fexes. You will get far more out of them than CC versions - 12 TL S6 shots is not to be sniffed at.

Honestly, i'm only taking the Fexes cus i love the models and i REALLY want some Strength 10 + 2d6 love to take down the Land Raiders that always cause me grief...

But then, after typing that, i realise that the Sycthing Talons and awful WS won't really make much of a difference if i'm going after Tanks...

ReDone List!!!

Tyranid Prime with 2x Boneswords and Deathspitter and Regen

3x3 units of Hive Guard

2 Units of Terma Gants

2 Tervigons with Glands, Sacs, Cluster Spines and Catalyst

2 Trygon Primes with adrenal Glands

2 Carnifexes with Glands and Frag Spines and 1 TL Devourer Each

12 Gargoyles

That way, the Prime can stick with the Fexes and provide some Nice regen possibility and the Gargoyles can sort of spread out and keep a Big Monster or two Safe !

if you need to build a second prime, here's a low skill required conversion of a standard Tyranid warrior. Still needs a lot of paint touch ups, but I am more of a gamer than hobbiest.

for the bonesword arms I just used Scything Talon arms from my Genestealers, and then whittled down one of those ugly spare Scything talons that comes with a Carnifex, since they are large and flat and do half the work for me.
