Well, I know it's awful late in the day to be asking, but did any of my fellow Dakkanauts participate in the insanity that is NaNoWriMo?
For those of you who don't know, NaNoWriMo is an annual event taking lace in November where the goal is to create a 50,000 word novel. Editing is discouraged as it's all basically flat track writing. Editing and fixing up can come in December - October.
I finally participated in my first National Novel Writing Month in 2011, after seriously considering it for the last three years.
I also manged to hit my 50,000 word deadline before midnight on November 30th, achieving the feat just after noon Eastern today (11/29/11)
Am I the only Dakkanaut sad enough to do so?

I have participated 3 years in a row now...
I never got past 25,000 until this year where i reached 30,000.
I'd like to hit 50,000 but so far most of my stories have come to a natural end at about 25,000-ish and i didn't want to artificially extend them...

Did I forget about this AGAIN!? Feth my memory (or lack thereof) ¬.¬
It's not as if I could achieve 50k, I struggle to do much over 5k these days thanks to my mind being filled too much with life stuff to actually be good at fueling my writing, but oh well.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Good intentions carried me through my goal for day 1. After that I got a good lesson in how non-conducive to writing having a wee baby running around the house can be.
Congrats to you for making it!
