All of my terrain was created using GW's Glade Grass and I just built a new 4' x 6' table. $8.25 is a lot to swallow, so I am look for something cheaper that will still match. Woodland Scenics has good prices, but the grass is 1 color. Gale Force Nines is more reasonable, but I'm not sure if it will match. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

The Hornby miniature train range? Forget how they cost, and certainly dunno how they cost in comparison with the other things you mentioned, but they've usually got pretty good variety over there. It may/might/could be what you're looking for. No promises.

Look for model railway supplies. I know that some making static grass make it all the same colour and that doesn't look right, but others do make it more mixed and it is a lot cheaper and GW, even Hornby.

If you still have no answer by tomorrow ill stop by the local Hobby shop they have EVERYTHING you would need or want to make model trains and scale landscape. ill check out what they sell there its rather cheap. i know it comes in a bag about the size of a large ziplock and its usually only like 10 bucks or so. im sure two bags would cover the table

I just use a blend of Summer and spring static grass from Noch (who do model railway terrain stuff). It costs about 50% less than GW stuff for the same amount (or more). A 100g bag lasted me several tables worth of terrain pieces.

For larger pieces, I use their glue-down paper-backed grass mat (identical to the original GW grass mat - so much so, that it wouldn't surprise me to learn that it was just a rebadged product).

There was a time when Hornby were *that* close to going out.

One man, ONE MAN bought them back from the brink...

(Or was that something from "The Terminator"?)

I've always known model railway people, so have always known Hornby (and Meccano - invented by the same guy).

Now if he'd said "Tri-Ang" then I'd be all "WTF?"

Meccano was originally available in two boxes - "Box deluxe" and "Box Standard".

From this we get the phrases "dog's bollocks" for something really cool and "bog standard" for something pretty basic/ordinary.

Spoiler:
It sounds good but it's an oft repeated myth.

Testicles? Bad. Dogs testicles? Good.

Makes sense.

Give a bloke some slack! Hornby is UK-based company, aren't they?

For model railroads, I really like what Scenery Express has. Their static grass looks just like Hornbys though, all the same color. I want to go cheaper, but I don't want to go wasting money on tons of different brands of static grass that doesn't match. Also, I'd prefer to order from the US if possible. Thanks for the help guys.
