Yeah, I run the Bray-Shaman with lore of beasts, just so that he can spam Wildform on his block T5 S4 gors running down my roomates DE or my local Lizardmen and Empire.

The giant I find is just a huge target that soaks up magic and shots. But when he does hit the line, thing's die.

Give your bsb gnarled hide and a shield for a 2+ save or swap the shield for a great weapon so he can hit with some force, also drop the champions off your core units, their a waste of points and try to get the crown of command on your lord.

They wont be particularly competitive but they will be fun enought for a friendly list

It is very friendly. It is not very good however. Sword and board on Gor are not that good, with no armor that gives them a 6+ and a 6+ parry, while the parry is nice in a lot of cases you will be facing S4+ attacks so armor save is nothing. Additional hand weapon fares a little better especially with Primal Fury which is the thing that makes beastmen stronger then other rank and file troops. Depending on your local area you may want more defense on the BSB, since characters can be targeted in combat I like what we in the Beastmen world call the 206, Wargor -BSB -Beast Banner -Heavy Armor -Shield -Gnarled Hide, this gives a 2+ armor save since with Primal Fury Ld rerolls are so important. Beastlord is a solid choice the more leadership the better, however consider a Greater Bray Shaman too, the level 3 is key in magic offense and defense. Also horn of the beast is not that good, you only really need Primal Fury on the gor, again the ungor raiders are not for shooting and not for combat they are their for redirecting, screening and maybe getting into a flank. If I were to take a Beastlord at this level it would be with Heavy Armor and a ward save (Armor of Destiny is great here) and a great weapon. Anything else is up to you Crown of Command is nice. Ungor raiders are great units but 10 is a little large, their main job is to act as screens and redirecters, short bows and BS3 is just not going to do much, most of the time you will need 5s and 6s to hit. The only Beastmen rare I would consider is a Chaos Spawn because it is so cheap in points, outside of that for a fun game a ghorgon, a Giant is not going to bring much and is a huge point sink at this level. Also you are over 1500, if it's a friendly game all good, 1 or 2 pts maybe, if you ask me if 7 is OK I'll say take out a gor and you'll be under 1500 duh.

40 Gor, at least I tell you after running mine 6 wide I jumped to 10 wide and so much of a difference. I would go with 1 unit of 40 Gor, BSB in there with the beast banner. What is better then 1 horde? 2 hordes, but not gor whats better? Bestigor. I'd try and fit in 40 Bestigor, WS4, S6, Heavy Armor, can take the Standard of Discipline throw in your general and now your leadership bubble is +1 which is essential with again.... Primal Fury. Here are 2 lists I really enjoy at 1500:

The first provides 2 hordes which I really like, the 2nd provides a Bray Shaman with dispel scroll which is nice, however if he gets singled out he would be very weak to getting attacked. GBS goes with Bestigor giving them the Ld bubble similar to a Beastlord of 9. In the 2nd list you could drop the level4 upgrade and the Razorgor/Harpies for more Bestigor, think it will bring you up to 39 with the GBS it's a strong unit of 40 you could horde out.

That is correct, he can only take a standard OR a magical weapon or item. Sword and board are alrigth for friendly games, but really you want to aim for addidtional handweapon to max out your WS. And secondly NEVER think about Razorgors they are utter useless, harpis are alrigth but Ungors work better.

While this is true. Gnargled Hide is NOT a magical item, it is a Chaos Gift, which means he can take it.

Yeah it's called the 206 it's pretty much standard in most beastmen lists. Beast banner is a must and since he is so valuable it provides the best protection.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll do a repost in a few. Gotta finish a Ungor and get some Skyrim in before I go out to the FLGS.
