Subject: 1500 Tau, Cities Of Death List

So after working on some city terrain, me n my buddies decided to stick to the cities of death expansion. It's fun and brings and entirely different feel on the game.
Here is my list:
HQ:
Shas'o 50
TA, PR, FB, HWMT [97]
ELITES:
3xCrisis Suits
PRs, FGs, MTs [184]
3xCrisis Suits
TLPR, Flamers [177]
TROOPS:
12xFire Warriors
Shas'o, Bonding Knife [135]
12xFire Warriors
Shas'o, Bonding Knife [135]
12xFire Warriors
Shas'o, Bonding Knife [135]
10xKroot
10xHounds [130]
FAST ATTACK:
8 Pathfinders [96]
Devilfish 80
SMS, MT, TA [120]
10xVespids
Strainleader [182]
HEAVY SUPPORT:
2xSniper Teams [160]
I'm over by 50 points but I think I can trim up something.
Over all, I've had good games so far with a similiar list at 1250 points. Pathfinders greatly boost the tau and I always try to fit them, especially in cities where they can negate cover saves. However, the must buy transport can be expensive if I want to make it useful, so I was debating about dropping them and opting for 2 markerlight drones and markerlights in each FW squad, but it just makes them very immobile and expensive. Firewarriors are pretty effective in cities tho, their high number of shots can be made more accurate with markerlight support. Kroot are also good, being able to outflank and infiltrate, or just sit on an objective..
Flamers on battlesuits are also a lot better than people expect. Since we play on a 4x4 table, its easy to get into range. Keeping the 12'' distance between your opponenet for as long as you can without engaging in assault is really brutal with TL AP2 weapons, and once the assault is enivitable 3 flame templates are great. Also, we cover the table with as many pieces of terrain as possible, and flamers are great for troops in ruins.
Vespids... I know.. Why? More for the theme really, and my excitement over my conversion for them. However, they can benefit from markerlights, so if I play correctly I can boost their guns to BS5 and ap3 is pretty nasty. Sniper drones also shine in cities, as strategems come into play and the free markerlight is also nice to have.
Anyway, sorry fot the ramble. C&C welcome !

Hi, i have some suggestions
Drop the shas'o and take shas'el instead. i don't think shas'o is worth points.
I feel your list is to static, i am not a fan of so many fire warriors, i would drop one of them, get a devilfish, then you can give the pathfinders fish to the other firewarrior squad. So you can move your fire warriors.
I don't want my suits so close to the enemy as you described, many opponents have assault units with long assault threat. I would recommend PR/MP/MT on crisis, but that is me, you could also have some shield drones for protection if you like.
Also you have very little anti tank, I would suggest replace sniper drones with either a hammerhead or some XV88.

Shas'o or shas' el? The Shas'o is 75 pts, the shas' el is 50 pts. Also, I'm not a big fan of helios suits... I would suggest bladestorm... which I do adore. (Plasma Rifle/Burst Cannon/Multi-Tracker)

Same, I would make them bladestorm.
Mr. DK wrote:3xCrisis Suits
TLPR, Flamers [177]
Eeehh.... Twin-Linking is never really worth it in my eyes... especially with plasma rifles, because it is so darned expensive. I would suggest using 2 weapons and a multi tracker... if you do want to keep TL PR, give them TAs instead of flamers.

The squad leader is called a shas'ui
Also, do you really find that the bonding knives make that much of a difference? I never found them to be very useful... I would suggest that you get rid of the 'ui and bk... but you don't need to.

yaaaay!!!

Could you make it 6 pathfinders, and get a second unit identical?

but...but... why??? Even with ML support... they suck. Stick with your sniper drone teams.

Sniper drone teams are the bomb.
I would really suggest fitting a couple of broadsides in this list. You are seriously lacking AT firepower.

Thanks fellas.
See, I find that in cities of death where infantry have more mobility than tanks, that my fire warriors are actually effectifve. They stay mobile and rapid fire anyoen who gets close. The bonding knife has actually one me the game on the team leader lol, so I find the 5 points worth it.
With my FWs having so many str5 shots, I have decided to not take bladestorms, which I will agree I adore, but since my FWs have the same stat weapons, they fill in for the battlesuits lack of burst cannons. I used to use PR+MP, and i might try them again actually.
I was debating TAs on the Burning Eye squad, but its just too expensive. Flamers are just last resort, and the TL-ing helps anyway.
Vespids... Yea, I kno they suck.. Probably will end up dropping them.
I wanted to take mroe pathfinders, but the devil fish is annoying to buy sense I'm going for a low AV count in this Cities Themed list. In a normal match I would quickly take two and mount my FWs into transports, but tanks suffer in cities.
I was thinkin a broadside or two actually, in place of the vespids.
Oh, and apologies for wrong names. I ment the cheaper HQ (50pts). I don't always have the codex on me and I go from memory, points should be right tho.
