I'm starting an Ork army and right now all i have is two boxes of boyz. I was wondering if anyone had some advice on a good Ork list or at least some ideas about what to take, what i shouldn't leave out and what i shouldn't take unless fighting certain armies. Any advice would be appreciated.

Look at the article sections of this very website. Indeed this army list subforum is for posting actual army lists .

Spam either walking boyz, trukks, kanz or battlewagons. Be sure to include some form of antitank that fitz in with the list.
The only definite choices are boyz need a nob with PK and bosspole and also a mek kff fits nicely into any list.

Hows this for a list then, gonna do bit of a boyz spam.

HQ:
Warboss w/ PK, TL shoota, Eavy Armour, and boss pole
Big Mek w/ PK, Eavy Armour, Bosspole, and KFF
Elite:
Lootas 15 with Deffguns
Troop:
30 man Boyz squad w/ shootas and 3 big shootas, Nob with PK, Eavy Armour and bosspole
2x 30 man Boyz squads, both w/ slugas and choppas, 3 rokkit launchas, nob equipped as above.
20 man Boyz squad w/ shootas and 2 big shootas, Nob equipped as above
Battlewagon with 2 big shootas and a rokkit launcha, ard case, armour plates, and a deff rolla.

Thats what i came up with for a 1500 list. Probably not perfect since its the first one i've made

Ok so what we have here is more or less a green tide army.

HQ:
Warboss w/ PK, TL shoota, Eavy Armour, and boss pole
Ok lets break these down for you. The Boss Pole(BP) is not needed on a boss. You have it on the Nobs in the squads. He is also an IC, so he will get singled out in CC and might die before he get to use it. He really could use a Cybork Body(CBB). I myself don't like PK on my Boss, but that is personal preference.
Big Mek w/ PK, Eavy Armour, Bosspole, and KFF
Same thing goes with him and the BP. He really doesn't want a PK either. You do not want him getting into CC. Honestly the KFF is all he needs. If you have the left over points eavy armor(EA) isn't bad. Not needed though.
Elite:
Lootas 15 with Deffguns
Awesome unit. Might try to get 2 squads of 10 in here. I use 2 squads of 15 and I love them.
Ok you have alot of Boys here. The Nobs don't need EA IMHO. I don't like Rokkits in Boys squads. Never have and never will. The sluggas should be running and not shooting and having them in with the shootas you are losing 17 shootas because you feel the rokkits should shoot at Tanks. Drop the Rokkits. I am guessing the 20 shootas are going in the BW. Thats an awesome idea. When I use BW's I useally put shootas in them.
Battlewagon with 2 big shootas and a rokkit launcha, ard case, armour plates, and a deff rolla.
Ok the BW. You really only need one Bshoota. The rokkit is better if you switch it to a kannon. Same profile, except it has a second firing option. If you fire it as frg you can fire that plus the BShoota at the same time. Ard case(AC) is a bad idea. It makes it closed top so you only have 2 fire points. So having all those shootas on board stops 18 of them firing if you have the AC. Armor plates(AP) and the Rolla are great options. Never leave home with out them. My last real problem with the BW is that it is your only vehicle. It will not las very long even if you have the KFF close by. If you want the KFF in the BW then you would need to drop a Boy.

Thats what i came up with for a 1500 list. Probably not perfect since its the first one i've made

I hope this helps you a bit. Good luck and hit me up with any questions.

One tank is a huge target which will just be blown up, it will the target of all the antitank shots.
90 boyz is more than enough, and that number just about fits on the table top

The warboss should have an attack squig and cyborg body, both are great upgrades. Also the warboss is a bit of luxury.

So drop the 20 boyz and battlewagon.

So let's talk about antitank. A few rockets are not enough at BS2. Also you can not hope the enemy will let you walk about and klaw tanks. Maybe consider one of the following which ever takes your fancy.

9 Kannons with ammo runts.
9 Kanz with rockets.
3 buzzsaw+rocket koptas.
More deffguns. At the moment I would have them in 3 squads of 5 so you can target three targets instead of one, big numbers are good to get the squad to be fearless.

The original list has 128 models at 1500 pts , they can not kill them all, unless it is a Crowe list. If it is a Crowe list just give up, you are able to beat them but just do not put yourself through it.
