Ok to begin with im Completly new to Warhammer Fantasy and am not sure if this list is legal (i have looked and to my understanding it is legal) but this is the Army list i have come up with so far

Lvl 4 Archmage with Seer Staff of Saphery 290
Lvl 2 Mage with Starwood Staff 175
Lvl 2 Mage with Jewel of the dusk, Silver Wand 160

1x 12 Spearmen with 1 musician upgrade 113
1x 12 Spearmen with 1 musician upgrade 113
1x 12 Spearmen with 1 musician upgrade 113
1x 11 Archers with 1 musician upgrade 137
1x 11 Lothern Sea Guard, with 1 musician upgrade 149

Special
1x 10 Pheonix Guard 150

Rare
1x Repeater Bolt Thrower 100

This comes to 1500 exactly, its a tad mage heavy but thats becuase i like the look of these models i know nothing of them performance wise so any advice or comments will be welcome. I chose the Pheonix Guard as i like the look and storey of those guys and i would like to include them in any size warhost if possible, the archmage i want to have some fun with building him, and the two mages are becuase i have two of the Island of blood box sets i will be selling the riders, swordsmasters of Heoth and the prince and griffon as im not taken by them. That said people with play experiance could well advise otherwise and providing its not going to cost me the earth (this list has enough to buy extra to the box set as it is) ill gladly look into it.

Drop a mage, take a BSB.

Combine all those spearmen into 1 unit with full command, perhaps just 30 strong.
Take the extra points as use them as archers IF you still need to meet minimum core.

10 PG won't do much, you're better off with 10 or 14 swordmasters or white lions.

Drop the RBT and take 2 eagles.

IF you must take PG, they need to be 25 to do much, and give them the Banner of Sorcery.

ok ill drop one mage probably the one with the staff, Ill combine the spearmen and make the command group, ill also take a standard bearer, the pheonix guard ill replace with my sword masters, but im not sure about the eagles, i really like the look and potential of the thrower, could anyone give me a breakdown of the two so i can see why the eagles would be better?
