Hey forum I am starting Blood Angles after seeing them in a tournament at a GW store I have read up on their history and founding and was amazed. I ask 2 things from you the forum to 1 make me a 1000pt and 1750pt army list and 2 give tips and tactics On how to use sed armies.

I am looking into fast attack mainly either Death Company or just normal assault marines and tank busters a potent mix would be helpful but I am open to anything. I would really like to have Astorath the Grim so I can get that +3 red thirst bonus, or a HQ that has a thunder hammer (though I don't believe there is one) and at least 1 furiso dreadnought Preferably Death Company.

So now I leave it up to you forum what army would you use?

P.s. (Most of the armies I go up against are either horde or fast attack)

For the first list you are going to want to make your scout squads into line a men and wrap the lines around each other. This way assaulting units cannot charge all your scouts in one go and wipe you from the board. You probably want to keep your captain in the back so he can jump forward as a counter attack element.

Objectives should be easy because you have so many scoring units. There is not as much shooting in the list so don't be opposed to going to ground for a better cover save if you get shot at.

For the 1.75k list I would do more of the same (only make sure that both captains are working together to counter assault things).

I would probably hold the scout bikes in reserve and turbo boost onto objectives in the later turns to try to contest objectives. They are also very squishy so you probably don't want them on the table right away or else they will be shot to hell.

Hope this helps.

Those scouts lists are not good at all, one Land raider, or Stormraven eats you for breakfast as you have no way to kill either of those vehicles in the all scout list.

A Librarian should be your HQ, the Captains are really not worth it in a BA list.

Assault marines should be your troops choices. Stay away from Death Company, they are really tough to use. you can use a unit of scouts to camp that objective in your deployment zone, but only use 5 and give them camo cloaks.

Furioso dreadnoughts and Assault terminators with thunderhammers and storm shields are great elite choices. the Sanguinary priests can be good, in the right list.

Predators with Autocannons and Lascannon sponsons, devistator squads with 4 missile launchers, and Stormravens are your heavy support choices, the Stormravens are really nice for getting the Furioso Dreadnoughts into close combat.

A strong captain
assualt squads
death company
death company dreadnaught
1 land raider(perferably a redeemer, but go with your flavor) or a storm raven

using these units for fun games is great, what I take mostly. Of coarse there is a lot of cheese in the elites section of the book. So you have to decide if you are playing for fun or to piss off your opponent.

I agree that death company can be a little troublesome with their rage rule but if you mount them in a transport and keep them there until needed, they work good, keep in mind tho that they can't hold objectives.

DeathReaper touched on some really good points for you also but I think he might have accidently left out the Baal, mine usually does me alot of good.

Hope this helps

I generally avoid the DC dreadnought (and DC in general). They are strong but can be very hard to control, you will frequently find an opponent can tie them up the whole game by sending them on a wild goose chase. Using the more reliable assault troops availabe to you and making sure to utilize DoA, you can have a very competant army that can DS right behind the point where it will cause the most damage. Alternately you can try the slightly favored mechanized guard list, if you have a lot of rhinos/razorbacks. A unit or two of scouts make excellent objective holders if you can get them to an objective w/cover, though I am not scouts biggest fan. Inferno pistols are some thing to grab a number of, especially if DSing everything, the ability to put a decent anti-tank gun right behind a particularly noisome tank is quite good. If you are running a DS Jump pack heavy list you probably want Dante, the unit he is in will not scatter upon landing, and his equipment is pretty much just right for what you would want a jump pack commander doing anyway.

Librarian with a jump pack (Shield of Sang and another offensive power you like)

2x units of 10 Assault Marines with 2 Melta Guns each and Power Fists on the Squad Leaders

2x Sanguinary Priests with Jump Packs and PW

5 scouts camo cloaks missile

5 scouts camo cloaks missile

Somewhere around that is 1k, Can combat squad the Assault marines if the game needs it, Priest in each assasult unit for FNP and furious charge, Libby comes down and gives shield of sanguinius in their turn for 5+ cover save and uses a power to help you out in your turn.

Scouts provide objective holders and some ranged support, place them in 4+ cover. If one unit is taking heat go to ground for 2+ cover save (fantastic if camped on an objective).

vossyvo's list is not bad, but it needs a few changes.

Give the Librarian Shield of Sang, and Unleashed rage, those to hit re-rolls rock.

The priests should not have power weapons, priests are too easily targeted in CC to give them power weapons.

The scouts should be Sniper rifles, if you want to give the one guy a Missile launcher that is fine, but Scouts are not the best for missile launchers. If you want a Missile launcher squad use a squad of Devistators, you will get 4 Missile Launchers for 130 points, and remove one of the scout squads if you take the dev squad.
