Okay so the general idea is that the Hydras sit back surrounded by the 40-strong combined squad with power weapons while the rest of the list moves up to engage. The special weapons squads ride in the Valkyries, which come in 12" off the edge to dish out their pie plates, drop the melta squads, and then fly around dealing with troops. That's about it.

I'd like to see some special or heavy weapons in that blob squad, so they can at least shoot something when on guard duty.

Agree, more guns in or behind the blob. You could drop all the power weapons to free up points. In my experience pretty much any assault troops in any other army will own IG. You don't want to hang around for multiple rounds of close combat - you want the enemy left unengaged so you can shoot them on your next turn.

Also I like a second CCS in this size army. You could replace one SWS with a CCS with meltas to ride in the valk.

OP: Replace the power weapons in the Blob with autocannons, so they have something to do each turn besides just sit there.

Also, you have enough scoring units, definitely swap out the second SWS for a CCS. They have one additional spec. weapon slot, and have BS 4, making them a much better unit.

Don't ditch the power weapons for something else. Power weapons are good.

Instead, lose one of the SWS and buy meltaguns or flamers for the blob squad. I'd be seriously tempted to turn the Valkyries into Vendettas, not to sound like everyone else, but they add so much more than a couple low strength large blasts. You could really use the added lascannons to de-mech opponents reliably (remember those Hydras can only hit one target).

Rest is fine. For future reference, when writing out your list, we don't need to know when a guardsmen has a lasgun. Just list the special weapons and upgrades.

I'm a fan of "more bodies, more bullets", especially when those bullets are heavy weapons. Right now every heavy weapon you've got is on a vehicle, and all your specials are high AP short range between meltas (12") and plasma (rapid fire range if the chimeras move).

I've had some success with a blob squad armed with assault weapons, but I've had more success with a basic infantry squads/blob squads armed with heavy weapons. All those extra guardsmen? The lasrifle fire will eventually kill someone, but to me they're just ablative wounds for the heavy weapons. My advice is stick autocannons or missile launchers in those squads, although since you already have a bunch of Hydras I'm leaning towards missile launchers.

The other thought is tactics. If you're playing a gun line, the blob squad as you have it defined (power weapons, designed for speed bumping an assault) is good because it can stop your opponent's assault troops from making it in. Thing is you've mobilized the rest of your army and armed the infantry with short range weapons, which means they're going to be maneuvering and getting up close and personal, leaving this blob squad to chill out in your deployment zone, shielding perhaps your Lemans and hydras but that's about it. If you slap heavy weapons on them, now they provide more heavy support to the advancing troops, an extra punch where you need it.

Finally, since the Lemans have a six foot range, will probably be doing most of their shooting at longer range, and can fire their main gun as well as one other non-defensive weapon even if they move I think you'll get more use out of the free heavy bolters rather than the free heavy flamers. If you can free up the points, slapping lascannons on instead of heavy bolters would compliment their high AP primary cannon.

How do I recommend you afford all of this? Pulling one of the hydras out would reduce your autocannon fire but free up 75 points, allowing you the lascannon swap on the Lemans and the heavy weapons in the squad (although you might have to trade out a couple of power weapons). Most things will die to the combined might of four Hydra Autocannons anyway.

a thought: Your vet squads with meltas, go shotguns instead of lasguns. I know, they are modeled with lasguns, but, play them as shotguns. Meltas and shotguns have the same range. I like lasguns with plasma guns, seeing as they are both rapid fire weapons. Shot guns and meltas are assault.

Other than that, it looks like a standard IG list. There are plenty of other units for use found in the codex.
