So I am trying to come up with a 1000pt army to play against my friends. My normal opponents are Space Wolves, Orks, and new Necrons.

So this is what I came up with so far, is there anything I am lacking? My biggest worry is the low number of scoring units. Suggestions?

HQ: 70 points
CCS - x4 flamers

Troops: 240 points
Vet - x3 melta gun, x1 lascannon (in chimera transport)

Vet - x3 melta gun, x1 lascannon (in chimera transport)

Transports: 110 points
Chimera - multi laser, heavy flamer (with vets)

Chimera - multi laser, heavy flamer (with vets)

Heavy Support: 580 points
L.R. Executioner - plasma sponsons, lascannon

L.R. Battle Tank - lascannon

L.R. Vanquisher - lascannon

Total Points: 1000

Lascannons require the unit be stationary, meltaguns require mobility, so, I'd put the lascannons elsewhere (the command squad, for instance).

if you're worried about not enough scoring stuff, what about swapping a Russ out for another vet/chimera unit?

I would take out the Vanquisher. Too many points for what it does.

Yeah, i was only going to use the lascannons first couple turns to try and pop any large targets before advancing, probably not the best way to spend 40pts, but i figured if i could pop a monolith or a battle wagon then its points well spent. Also i was planing on having the HQ foot slog behind the tanks to block LOS and be a counter unit for any pesky flankers who try to come from behind. At least they would be met with 4 flamers instead of just naked rear armor lol

A 3rd vet chimera might not be a bad idea...hmmm

Why not take a HWS then? With lascannons on the MeltaVets you either use the lascannons or use the 3 meltas.

Also, the HB would be better on the Executioner. It is best not to mix anti-infantry and anti-tank weapons.

HWS is too expensive because i would need a PCS, and 2 basic Infantry squads, In order to purchase 1 HWS. So that would be around 130pt naked before I actually got the HWS and spend the points on kitting it out.

Hmm... you bring up a good point about the HB being better for anti infantry, I will have to look at that. I initially was trying to keep the AP of the weapons the same.

I may rethink that though. Thanks for the suggestion

I would drop the lascannons on your vets. You cant move and shoot them so its useless to have them in that slot. Maybe form a HWT with them?

You can probably drop the vanquisher. I dont think its that useful, especially with that point level. I would put HBs on your LRBT and Executioner. They shouldnt be shooting at armor and will mainly be killing infantry (and some light transports) so the hb fits in better.

With the points you save on tanks, i would get more infantry, whether it be vets or regular guardmen

Your ccs has BS4. I would give them plasma or melta guns instead to make use of it.
