Im having problems with deathwing as i dont actually know what to equip my terminator squads with and what dreadnought configuration to use. Also what should belial have sword or hammer.

Well I don't know your play style but this is what I use.

Belial: LC's
Sammeal: Speeder

Dread: Plasma Cannon
Dread: Plasma Cannon

DW Squad
-Banner
-Apoth
DW Squad
-CML
DW Squad
-CML
Bikes x6
-2x Plasmaguns
-Apoth

Speeder: MM, TML
Speeder: MM, TML

Vindicator: Dozer
Vindicator: Dozer

Each DW squad has 3 LC's and 2 TH/SS in them.

Cool but im more into the deathwing assault bit so shooting is very important. Also should i run dreads in pods.

He wants a deathwing list not a dualwing list.

Belial probably with SS/TH, with apoth. and banner.
About half your points on the troops.
Then fill with vindis or preds, finding enough points for 3 typhoons.

Belial SS/TH
2 SS/TH 2 LC 1 SS/TH+CML, apoth. +banner
2 SS/TH 2 LC 1 SS/TH+CML
2 SS/TH 2 LC 1 SS/TH+CML
3 preds, autocannon and lascannon spsons.
3 typhoons, MM

He said shooting was important. While those tanks and speeders would put out some shooting I am thinking he's looking for more shooty terminators.

From playing Deathwing for just a few months I can tell you it doesn't work that well. Your range is fairly short and the amount of shots you will put out will pale too much in comparison to real shooty armies.

What makes Deathwing semi-viable is the survivability and fact that you will have 4-6 scoring units that can deep strike.

Ok, fair enough but the only type of DW I know is dual. They are far better that way IMHO. They have so much more to add. I guess that is a difference of opinons.

I have been playing Deathwing for sometime. You really want some shooting, but not from termies, except CML.

Mixing units just takes away from their purpose. A couple of SB/PF and a couple of TH/SS equals not shooting or surviving HtH very well. Make your units either shooty or punchy.

I run my Deathwing, as follows

Belial w/ LC
4 squads of 3x TH/SS, 1x LC, 1x CML w/ TH/SS
1 squad of apothecary, standard, 4x LC and 1x TH/SS and CML on a LC

as my core, then mix the following

3x Vindicators
3x Typhoons w/ MM
Ezeikel
another squad of 3x TH/SS, 1x LC, 1x CML w/ TH/SS

I'm thinking of adding a squad of 3x SB/PF, 1x HF/CF, and a Sgt w/ PW/SB. I will use this as my all-purpose horde control/ objective holder. Plant in cover and shhot.

I liked everything until I read this. Why would you hold a 220 point squad on an objective basically wasting the points. You have a HF too. What kinda range support is it going to give you? Ok maybe with an AC I could see it. I just hate wasting points holding something that doesn't need to be held. DW should take any objective they want and hold it pretty good without having to stay back and hold one.

Each there own though.

You did see the horde control part of that, right? Who's saying I'm holding back? Deepstrike is an option. You realize capture and control is a mission, right?

I have about 35 games with Deathwing since August. I'm pointing out my observations. YMMV

Yes I am aware of all that. Capture and control means capture the enemies objective and control it. Not hold back hold your own and contest his. Most play like that which is foolish IMHO.

You said plant and shoot. To me that means no moving. Am I wrong?

I also don't really understand the point of how many games you have played. I have played DW since 3rd. So yes I know how to play them and am well versed with them.

DS is an option, but again with the HF it is pretty dangerous to get that close to kill something with a flamer. At least without Rwing support and there TPort homers.

Hey if it works for you then go right ahead. I am just not a fan of that idea. Hordes are covered with the amount of frags that can be thrown out there with the CML's.

As far as the Scarabs go 1 HF is not going to do anywhere near what you think it will. That is where a Vindie or two will thrive.

But these are just my points of view of course.

termies (lightning claws) (dont know what heavy weapon)
termies (thunder hammer storm shield) (dont know what heavy weapon)
termies (powerfists and storm bolters) (dont know what heavy weapon) x2
raven wing bikers (dont know how many and what armament) x2
ravenwing support squadron (dont know what armament)

I take it all back he wants dualwing. Your list from before comes up.

Please tell us what points range.

For your list questions:

Belial with SS/TH makes him survive longer. I have yet to model the LCs version though I have a sword carrying one which isn't great.
Always CML, partly for the range but mostly for the price.
Then mix SS/TH and LC up, your opponent gets to choose the fights, they will run circles around you, if you have pure squads then the SS/Th they charge you or use light guns and the LCs will be shot at range. Stormbolters just tickle, the issue is they can take a cheap CML, you find a target for the missiles and chances are the storm bolters are useless or out of range.
3 bikers with plasma guns and an attack bike. This is in a MSU mould but as they are fearless it does not matter.
3 Typhoons are the only choice.

This list is a bit different to stuff I usually play, I guess it is designed for alpha strike. Good luck
